We're happy to select Jimmy Maggio, SP out of California. The last guy on the board who had first round grade from my scout.
Maggio has had a great amount of success this year, going 4-0 with a 2.02 ERA and struck out 72 in 58 IP.
Listed as 6/6/6 by my scout and his pitches are listed as 6/6/5/5 potential. A good influence for the other players, I think if he had a better work ethic he would have gone higher.
Really pleased with this draft to this point. Got a few more picks coming up here soon and a good amount of talent left in the draft.

Get those lists set up if you aren't going to be around. If you miss your pick you're on Auto until you notify a commish.

He just seems like a work horse...throws a ton of different pitches, 7 stamina, great intangibles, and will locate his pitches.

Everything about him epitomizes what we want the ideal Miller to be. Very High desire to win and an equally high Work Ethic.
He's got a strong projectable bat, plays a average to above average 2B, and my scout believes that he has the potential to be a substantial contributor to a winning ball club.
He's a guy I thought would go higher, and the ability to move up and add him to Jamie O'Hearn really kicks off an important draft for us.

Looking to move up. Have Tom Cole, Jamie Gruell, Wil Perez and 2 3rd round picks this year to move into the 2nd or add another pick in the 3rd. Let me know.

-Jimmy is definitely not the normal mould of pitcher found on a Baltimore roster. Currently his velocity is clocked at an unimpressive 90MPH and that usually doesn't get a second look from the Baltimore front office.
However, it seems that Jimmy may be well along his way to possessing unparalleled control and movement of a somewhat, limited arsenal. Leading the NCAA in ERA and wins, Jimmy has only allowed 3 HR in 64 IP this year, while topping 10+K in 5 of his 9 starts so far this season.
We're anxious to see if this young man can translate his college performance, to a BLB success.
