I think you can only do it if they have enough service time to become minor league free agents at the end of the year. That does present a problem if options reset though.

So if you sign a player with a minor league contract to a minor league extension, it resets their options?
I didn't even know you could resign guys with minor league contracts.

Btw... loophole to this rule.
Sign any of your Minor guys who are out of options to extensions... they're right off the waiver wire and back to having options again.
Soo... no resigning your minor league players?
I accidentally found out this loophole when I resigned 14 guys from my minors last sim who were in their final years. Now none of them are waivers eligible.
Not sure what you want to do with them Andrew. Thought I'd mention it anyways.

My suggestion is that Morgantown gets to choose the first player that is claimed by both teams and Batavia gets priority for the next two if there is more than one. The reason for the suggestion is that I think it is far more valuable to have the first pick in the amateur draft than the expansion draft and this provides some compensation to Morgantown.

Are we allowed to play these guys in our minor league games this sim? Or maybe the minor league season doesn't start yet I'm not sure.

This is a great rule despite the fact that it already burned me. A guy I really wanted to play in AAA this year, I just found out was Out of Options and now he's moving to the bigs because I felt confident he would have been grabbed from Waivers.
Adds an interesting dynamic.

I don't think we need to post every name since a lot will go unclaimed. I'm going to get in the habit of checking waivers every sim and manually move the players who don't get moved automatically.Originally posted by dieselboy View PostDone, 12 players.
Should we do something about the in-game flaws of the waiver claim system? Maybe we should make it required to post the names of every minor leaguer who is out of option years and then those players can be claimed via the forums?
Also, how are we going to decide waiver claim priority? Expansion priority, then last years record?
I think a lot of teams have some talented guys stuck at AAA.
Waiver claim priority will be expansion teams (not sure how the game will determine priority between the two) and then last year's record.
