    (AP)

The Snappers go 4-2 to maintain the top spot but the big weeks belong to Indy and Miami who both went 5-1 and are battling for the top spot in the Lager. The Racers have a 1.5 game lead on Miami and are currently the only two teams with a winning record coming out of that division. Washington also had a nice week by going 5-2 with a sweep of rival Baltimore, while Santo Domingo, Maine, Montreal, and Philly all went 1-5. The Freedom are now at .500 while Maine and SDR are 12-19 and Montreal is 5-27.

    Performance of the Week

P Ian Johnston - On May 10th against Pawtucket he was one out away from a no hitter when he gave up a single to Pat Greer in the bottom of the 9th. He was removed from the game to a standing ovation from the Patriot crowd and Pat Burgess came in and got Zach Bradley to pop out on the first pitch. The 23 year old Johnston struck out seven and walked three and is now 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.24 WHIP on the year.

    Injury of the Week

2B Zion Wilson - The Hartford second basemen fractured his wrist after getting beaned by JD Spencer of Wilmington on May 11th and will be out for over a month. Not known for his bat he's a really good defender who is always hustling and is a great influence on his teammates. So far this year he's hitting .236/.299/.438 with 13 RBI's while posting a +1.8 ZR at 2B.

    Prospect of the Week

LF Freddie Lovitt - The 17 year old plays for the Jackson High Polar Bears and hit .295/.372/.620 with 16 HR's and 53 RBI's in 38 games. He helped lead the Bears to the Central Division title and first round bye and will now take on the Cathedral Devil Dogs in the second round of the HS playoffs.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. As mentioned the playoffs are here...well for High School, the NCAA and the CCBL that is. High School is currently in the round two, the NCAA is in the Sweet 16, and the CCBL is in the Division Championship series. Stay tuned for complete coverage.

    2. The Rookie League has kicked off as Boise and Sacramento started out hot with 6-1 records. The Bluegills 1B Bryce Wallace leads the league with five home runs in seven games. He was the 34th overall pick in the 2032 draft by Windy City and this is his fourth season in the RL.

    3. The BLB is about a fifth of the way though the season and Montreal has five wins. They are on pace for a minimum win total of 34 and are currently -7 from their PYT record. Can they break the record of 39 wins held by the 1981 California Wildfire? That Wildfire team finished with a run differential of -383 and were 66 games out of first in the Bock.

    4. Is this the final season for Ian James in SDR? Currently he's making $30m this year, is in the 5th of a 6 year contract, and can opt out after the season. Even if he stays the Rum Runners have the option of bringing him back next season at the same price or letting him walk and pay a $3m buyout. At almost 33 years old he's played in 1399 games and is on pace this season for a 2.5 WAR, far below his 9.0 WAR 162 game average. If he goes the 10x All-Star, 10x Silver Slugger, 3x Stout Slugger, and 2029 Brewmasters Cup champion should have no problem finding work in the twilight of his career.

    5. IFA pitchers have always been hit or miss...and Lemarr Nuanes looks like he might be a hit. After signing a 5 year contract for $111m with Baltimore he's 4-2 with a 1.85 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in seven starts this year. His 100 mph fastball has bedeviled even the best hitters and even at 28 years old scouts believe he can still improve.
