Philadelphia is en fuego, Batavia is en feugo...everyone is en fuego! Ok maybe not everyone but the Freedom and Red Jackets are hot, hot, hot. Philly has now won nine straight and have moved into the final Import wildcard spot, while Batavia has won eight in a row and are atop the Import wildcard standings. The not so fuego teams were Hartford and Maine, who each went 0-6 in their two series against the Import. Some team leaders: Seattle scored 45 runs (Cal 9), Washington hit 13 HR (Bal 2), Dallas swiped 15 bases (LAD 0), Philly and LAD allowed 13 runs (Har 47), and Batavia allowed only 2 HR (Mon 13).

Performance of the Week
3B Zane Burns - The 33 year old came over from Santo Domingo last year and has been a solid defensive presence for the Millers. On August 3rd though against Phoenix his bat came alive when he hit three home runs and drove in seven during a 14-9 Millers victory. It was good enough for the 3rd best batting performance of the season, and Burns is now hitting .247 with 13 HR on the year.
Prospect of the Week
C Cato Flaig - The 1.1 of the 2047 draft was called up to AA a few weeks ago after slaughtering A ball pitchers. Down there he hit .298/.384/.492 with 7 HR and 40 RBI in 69 games. So far in AA he is struggling but it's only been 15 games. At only 19 years old he looks like he could be one of the most dominant hitting catchers the league has seen in quite a while.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Logan Fleshman made his BLB debut for Maine this week as the number two prospect in the land is now in the bigs. Drafted 3rd overall in 2044, he got a no decision against Batavia after going 6.1 innings, allowing three hits, one run, and striking out three. Fleshman throws four pitches, can hit 101mph on the gun, and has the stuff to be a strikeout king. Between him and Cayden Wittmeyer the Guides just found their 1-2 for the next decade.
2. Speaking of en fuego how about Roadrunners starter Jae'Sean 'Flamethrower' Ismael. The 30 year old was the 2nd overall pick of the 2040 draft by Phoenix and has put together a decent, yet unspectacular career. Then this season he just decided to go all 'Flamethrower' on everyone as he's 15-4 with a 2.61 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 155 ERA+. He was selected to his second All-Star game, his first one in five years, and currently leads the league in wins.
3. Congrats to Ryan Hubbard who hit his 300th career home run this past week. The now Seattle Pilot is 33 years old and well traveled after going from Wilmington to Dallas to Washington to now Seattle. He was always hold a place in the DK's heart though since he was the first ever BLB player to join the 40/40 club, when in 2042 he smacked 40 HR and stole 41 bases. Since 2040 only three players have hit more than 250 HR and stole more than 250 bases...Hubbard, Colby 'Mirror' Hullinger, and Kyle 'Salesman' Olmsted.
4. Alex Bourgeois was a 3rd round pick by LAD back in 2037, hit 14 HR his rookie season in 2043, but only played sparingly the next few seasons for the Dinos. In 2048 he was claimed off of waivers by Seattle, and then claimed by Denver from Seattle a few weeks later. He only played 35 games for the Bulls last season but this year has seemed to find a starting spot at first base. Long story long...this past week Bourgeois hit two grand slams in the same game against Santo Domingo, in back to back innings. His last grand slam was in his rookie season against the New York Knights, and this year he's now hitting .287 with 15 HR and 53 RBI.
5. What's on tap? The series of the week has to be New Orleans at Montreal. The Voodoo currently hold a half game lead over the Exports in the Lager, and these two teams square off nine more times this season counting the three this week. So far New Orleans has taken two of the first three, with all three games having been decided by four total runs. Streak wise Philly plays New York after winning nine in a row, Batavia plays Baltimore after winning eight in a row, while the Whalers and Guides try to shake their six game losing streak.
Individual steaks how about Windy City rookie Django Dietzen who currently has a 26 game hitting streak going. Do you know how many games he's played in the BLB...26. Pretty amazing kid, keep it up.
