Phoenix Riders versus South Maryland Jaguars
Young Riders in the trenches
OG Browning, the first round draft pick of the Riders, is holding out, so G.M. David "Hoosier" Owens went out shopping and found two blue light specials in the free agent market. Guards "Hey" Moe Hanson and Bob Elliot were signed and the decision to not pursue Browning has now been validated by the signing. Guard Lance Tokunuga has been released.
The Riders offensive line is now very young but capable. It looks as though this combination will be around for a very long time.
Pale Rider running backs released.
The running back squad returns only Fullback Donald "Duck" Duffy. Herby "Manmade" Alloy retired, Randall Rafter was released when he couldn't recover adequately from an injury, and Louie "Louie" Hager (you gotta go) was released. Free agent pickup Seth Hamner will split duties with Marc Scovil. Rookie FB Lamar "Roy" Rodgers will see action during the preseason, but will be relegated to a backup role during regular season. All four will be counted on to make up for the loss of "Manmade" Alloy.
South Maryland comes in as the defending NC East Division Champs and is expected to be a good test for the young Riders.
P.S. during the preseason, all Phoenix roster playing times will be set below fifty percent for development purposes only. The settings will change when regular season begins.
