BTW, this probably wasn't a BPA...more like...who do I want in order to give my team some sort of identity. :)

If you can get cap clean otherwise, I don't think you are necessarily stuck for 5 years. Definitely not for 5. He has a 5-year contract. By the start of his 4th offseason -- after 3 years of play -- cutting him will have the same effect as cutting him in the 5th year.
And you *could* cut him earlier; it'd mean taking on a cap penalty in the teens, but gets him off the book earlier. Teams have survived cap penalties greater than that.

Yes sir! That's the plan. If it works, I'm gonna have a tandem of stud CBs for a decade!
I actually was prepared to skip the QB for Money...had the QB as my fallback if Money (unlikely) went first.

No surprises here. The rest of the top 5 people are probably happy those DL players fell in their laps.
Dutch clearly took Money in order to move to CB. Hopefully he can slim down enough to get a 95%+ transfer to CB.

Is there anyway to attempt to trade with teams controlled by computer in multi-player?

Guest repliedActually, screw it. I'm gonna deep dive on this a bit. Since I'm not in the market for a QB (thanks Rob, I'm doin just fine with Dakota), I'm gonna post what I see:
If my memory serves me (probably not), Draft Analyzer pegs Mandel at 75% to be very good and like 1% chance he may blow.
Pros: Bench, Sol, Position Drill, Long Pass
Cons: Agil, Sense Rush, 2 min offense
If Mandel had a better agility score instead of the mediocre score then he'd probably be a clear #1 overall pick. Because it floats somewhere around 45 then I see it as a question mark. Should be okay, would like it to be higher.
Mandel will throw the long ball well, but coupled with the SR, he may not be effective at doing it. But if you're throwing the long ball then you're going to be focusing your OL on Pass Blocking anyway.
Mandel will be able to read defenses really well. He has a good Sol score, but since he's over performing bar-wise on Read Defenses according to Draft Analyzer I'm left questioning how well he'll avoid interceptions. Thoughts?
He's got good size and looks to be a pocket passer. You'd probably like to have a better SR on a pocket passer but his other bars, especially the intangibles like RD and Accuracy, may help make up for that. If he manages to get long and deep passes off, you're likely to be having a huge gain.
My conclusion: If I needed a QB, I'd take him. Probably. A brief look shows no other viable top 10 QB pick in this class, so he gains some value to me there.
If he ends up a dud, which I doubt he'll be a DUD, you're stuck with him and his high guaranteed value for the next 5 years. Still, you NEED a QB to be good. Like I said earlier, you've got to play the lottery in order to win.

Thus my dilema, Do I go after one of those 2 DE's & convert one to playing RE or converting 87/92 LDE Bob Miller to RE giving me 2 Stud ends. Also not mentioned is DT Peter Hale Outstanding Combine and Bars. I see him as a possible HOG stuffing the center, run stopping beast, pass rushing mack truck. Lastly I need a QB badly Mandel has me so nervous if only the sense rush & 2 minute bars were a bit higher I would feel more safe about him. So will I gamble and pray, get hoggish, or have maybe 2 of the best ends available. Will be deciding very shortly.

Guest repliedI agree.
I'd probably take one of the DEs if I had a top pick. They're relatively safe and always useful.
But if I needed a QB, well, you've got to swing for the fences sometimes. You arne't going to hit every time anyway, but to win the lottery you have to play.

Is it kosher to have some discussion on maybe the top several prospects in the draft?
There are these three DL that really stand out. It's a fairly strong position group overall, it seems, it's just that these guys look like consensus slam dunk phenoms.
After that, let's talk corner. The top two -- maybe three -- safeties look extremely outstanding and candidates to move to corner. They're all a bit heavy, but not unreasonably so. They could all drop weight and after camp, move while retaining a lot of their ratings.
Last, let's check in with the top QB. Teams are always looking for pass rush, CB, and of course, quarterback. Where's that 2 minute bar at? I guess it's rare to feel extremely good about any QB anymore -- ask Nemesis. He doesn't seem to be the kind of guarantee let's say Paul Covington (OSFL) or Andrew Luck (NFL) were, but he also has star written all over him. Do you pass him up, risking that he goes on a tear for another team?...it's a tough call. He's definitely not perfect, but what if he's top echelon?
This is kinda fun. Feels like the conundrum an NFL team would feel picking at the top most years.
