I want to see how C - Robby Shumway turns out.

He never played a single game in his college career at Rice... but he's got great potential with the bat.

    Fun pick to follow, Jake!

Interested in moving up if my guy is still there in the early 3rd.

I'll pay 3.24, 4.24 and next year's 4th if my guy is there.

    You destroyed Brad's Q. That's worth something.

You should just be happy to know that you essentially single handedly destroyed my player queue during the sandwich round. So, you got that going for you . . .which is nice.

-Not the greatest defensive shortstop, but I do believe Zach has the potential to be a decent hitter in the league if groomed well. OSA has him at 6-5-4-5-6 and Rorison (my scout) has him just a notch under those predictions. He's smart, he's got a good work ethic, and wants to win. I think he's a good fit for us. Oh yea, I'd like to send out a big FU to Hartford for taking Beniquez one pick ahead of us.
My pleasure. It was between Richardson or Shannon and Beniquez. Scout really liked Shannon so we went with him instead of Richardson, but it was close. It all evens out. Jistic got Torley one pick before me after I couldn't trade up ahead of him.

With the #60 overall pick, the Bulldogs select:

    Pat Marlin (CF)

-The Bulldogs are known as an organization that usually drafts well. This is my Al Davis moment for 1994. Pat Marlin wasn't liked by my scout and wasn't liked by OSA. But dammit, if this kid doesn't have some power! He's the NCAA all-time leader in runs, hits, total bases, RBI's and of course....the long ball (pause). As a freshman, this kid hit .370 with 24 HR and 57 RBI in just 180 AB, and he was a huge reason FSU call themselves the current NCAA champs with an outside chance to repeat.

This was a stretch to pick this guy so early, especially since there were at least two sure fire relievers I could have chosen here but:

    1. I don't have a pick in the 3rd round and I just didn't think his college numbers would let him slip to the 4th round.

    2. Chicks dig the long ball!

With the #59 selection, the Bulldogs select:

    Angelo Falconieri (MR)

-As our second international selection of the draft, I can't believe a guy that my scout loved fell this far in the draft. He's a smart leader with a high work ethic on the field. Off the field, he's "an ordinary guy, who likes to fish?" Rorison has him at 6-4-6 potential, which obviously, is better than the OSA report. Anytime my scout pegs a guy as better than advertised, he's a keeper. Angelo is only 18 so he'll have time to mature but right now, Angelo looks like he has the potential to be a good one.
