Morgantown has been in touch with @BLBNews and he's trying to get home to make his pick before time runs out. He's been out working.
Next year we should really think about letting people know the draft is starting a few days ahead of time. And we should also develop a utility that allows people to queue up picks in the event they are away from their computer for extended periods of time.
I'll throw this in the commissioner to-do list thread....

My scout thinks Flores has the most potential of anyone in the draft. But it's going to be very interesting to see how an 8 contact ceiling meshes with a 3 eye ceiling (both according to my scout).

This is my favorite part of the draft. Right here. The anticipation between the time when someone makes their pick after being on the clock for several hours, and the time when they scan this thread, read all the bitching about them taking so long, and post something to the effect of, "Shut up assholes, I was busy and I still picked within the time limit."

Actually, Flores was a guy I kind of like. Really high contact potential, at the top of the draft there. Good power. He absolutely refuses to take a walk, which concerns me, and he lacks speed. I worry about that holding him back. I'd give him a shot at SS.
He'll be in the BLB sooner than practically any other hitter, with the possible exception of Bornstein.

I have some concerns about him being an international, but my scout has Flores' projection about the same as he did Adili so I am rolling the dice.

Had a real tough choice and went with a safer pitcher, Alex Mejia from Oklahoma. My scout has him at 4-5-4 already with a pretty good ceiling. He probably won't be a #1 starter but he has what I value in a starter and should be a workhorse for a long time to come. There were quite a few other pitchers who I was considering at this point but his overall resume stood out the most. Mejia could be in the bigs by Spring Training next year which is an added plus.
With Hoffman, Johnson, and now Mejia I am comfortable that my starting pitching will be good to great in the next couple of years. FWIW, I would have taken Flores if I was going for a position player at this point. Thanks for helping to make my decision earlier.
I was really, really hoping Alex Mejia would slide down to me. I doubted he would, but I was holding out that slim hope. You pretty much summed up my thoughts on him, and why I was hoping to somehow get him. Maybe he's not a #1, but I think he'll be a good #2. Good movement/control pitcher, durable, 7 endurance. I'm not sure he's in the BLB next year, but I like him. If it works out, I compare him to someone like Migdonhio Manhos.
