Since we're apparently huge underdogs, I decided a few lineup and strategy tweaks could be justified. Nothing major. Instead of platooning RF I'm going with Donnie Small full time. He missed most of the season with an injury, but he hasn't looked rusty. And I moved a couple of strategy sliders to play a little more small ball.

You guys have a great chance. I bet it goes 7. If we were at full strength, it might be different. This will be a long series.Originally posted by Gyrodork View PostSince we're apparently huge underdogs, I decided a few lineup and strategy tweaks could be justified. Nothing major. The only person in this thread who gave Dallas a shot was Pittsburgh.
Batavia & Hartford got killed by injuries.
I still don't know what Diesel saw in his team, but they are feisty. I think Carolina is just a year away. Hopefully they don't panic and blow a good thing. The Great One!
Too many rings to count.

it seemed kinda obvious to me. He has two great pitchers and a couple great hitters. A couple weeks to rest since everyone in the pilsner was out of contention before june. We had to work too hard to win that division (fitz pitched game 162 to win the division). Then two best hitters out. I did not see a sweep but now that seems even more obvious when I really think about it. Great job to dallas. Good luck to the rest of the teams.Originally posted by Clay View PostThe only person in this thread who gave Dallas a shot was Pittsburgh.

Nope. Time to blow it up. It's been a while since I've rebuilt.Originally posted by Clay View PostThe only person in this thread who gave Dallas a shot was Pittsburgh.

Faulkner, Reyes, and Hamilton all need to forfeit their playoff salaries.

Even w/o injuries we still lose to Virginia. I think Hartford has the best team in the DL when healthy...so it's more unfortunate for UMD than me. I'm happy with 4 playoff appearances and 1 win away for playing for the trophy. Of course I'd love to win it but we aren't getting any younger. Such is life.
Congrats to Pat. I give him a lot of crap but he knows this game and how to play the advantages...and they played out for him this time. Carolina has some old pieces but mostly young ones...they'll be around for a while. I think they will win a few over the next decade or so. That way at least Hamilton can win one for the Muckdogs!Last edited by Matt; 03-27-2012, 07:51 PM.

A healthy Curt Tanner (not rusty after injury) and Raul Gonzalez is a totally different team in the playoffs.

Pretty much. We limped into the playoffs without Sau and Durham and then Pat Stewart got hurt right away. Not much you can do about it. We lost guys all season for extended time and still managed 96 wins - Sau, Durham, Hernandez, Lindsey, George, Valencia - I guess that's a moral victory.Originally posted by Matt View PostEven w/o injuries we still lose to Virginia. Then again, we were injured last playoffs and was one Kirby away from a BLB Championship. Except (almost) no one beats VA.
We've added another (probable) Stout Slugger in Castor to go with Sau and pretty much everyone important is back (and in their prime), minus a vet roleplayer or two.
Some of the young arms will get a spot in the rotation and pen - Rangel, Marrero, Kayra, Arciniega - and we'll bargain hunt for a few pieces here or there in the offseason.
Our pen is still solid - Aaron, Valencia, B-Rod, Ching, Anaya and Godron will all be back.
Overall, the future is still bright. We'll see what Maine and Pittsburgh do. Looks like the clown is tearing it down.
Excited to see what a Stewart-Durham-Sau-Castor-Hernandez line-up can do.Last edited by umd; 03-27-2012, 09:02 PM.Death Valley Scorpions (2003-Present)
