True. But if there is a projected shortfall based on revenue vs. end of year expenses, I'm not really sure it even matters what your budget is.

That's the thing though. That's the one part of the financials that is (or should be ) the most straightforward. It's Owner given budget minus experienced|projected expenses (projected expenses are fixed if everything else stays the same, meaning no new contracts, no trades, etc). There's no projection, they're hard numbers.

I'm with Funclown's original assessment. I believe that your budget is tied to fan interest. You had a couple of injuries to key players coupled with an ok season this far. I think the higher ups feel like you just won't make the projected revenue based on current performance and have adjusted accordingly.

I say this only because I've seen a similar swing after Coates second injury. But take it with a grain of salt because I'm just really guessing here.

I will have to check "in game" when I get home, but I was going down (projected balance) each sim then for some unholy reason my fan interest went down causing my projected balance to slip some. Really made no sense.

Am I worried? Umm, not really. Its up to management to generate income. We get to the playoffs, we draw more fans, it will all take care of itself.

That being said, not 100% whats going on in Maine. I asked if any "bonus" were ready to kick in or somebody suddenly became arb eligible. No way of knowing with this "fog of war" version of OOTP.

I flipped through my contracts. None of my players have bonuses except for winning awards, which wouldn't have kicked in.

And nothing going on in arbitration. Two players, a total of $1.1M projected for next year.

The same thing happened to me with a fan interest drop. That is the underlying reason. Although I don't know how it impacts the calculations.

UPDATE: Our fan interest is now down to 81!!!! We were once 87. We are the most unpopular first place team in league history.

The All-Star teams were picked on Sunday...and when I simmed to Monday HAL picked them. I checked and basically all the top selections were picked. I debated for a bit but going back in time and restoring from back-up scares me and I don't want to screw anything up. I apologize to everyone. I know this has happened once before and I will make sure to do better next season.

See I really didn't think it was that bad. I didn't go thru the whole list, but it did appear anyone who was leading the votes got in. Pitching staff looks pretty good. Our OF looks like shit, but have you SEEN the DL outfield this season? Its pretty embarrassing. Bunch of thugs.
