Anytime you can go 3-3 against the top 2 DL teams while sitting on top of the Ale, you take it.

SP Troy Donavon is probably getting a look this week in the rotation as Talley is really struggling at the moment. In Pawtucket we have no issue demoting kids if we feel they need a confidence boost.

RF Isreal Morales "pending injury" scares me a bit. Guys been a rock for our offense in terms of slugging and onbase. Fingers crossed.

We welcome Baltimore next to Pawtucket then a road trip to Cali.

OMG I was afraid of this 0-6 and put a fork in it. How can everyone on a team suck all at once. Was sure I would be a top tier offensive club.

          Yeah...tough week...

You have players. Oto, Pollitt and Rosales are some of the best at their position, and one of the better #3, #4 and #5 hitting combos in baseball. But to assume you will be a top tier offensive club is a bit of a stretch. Your leadoff hitter has a .293 OBP after a .261 last year. Your #2 hole hitter has a .233 OBP. Not to mention in the IL, the pitcher bats #9 with usually a sub .200 OBP. I'm sure there is a lot of times where Oto, Pollit and Rosales come up to bat with 1-2 outs and no one on base.

To be fair, Seattle's second hole hitter Joey Leger was the #1 overall pick two years ago because he hit like .750 in college with 40 billion home runs.

              He had Chiba-like potential ratings.

I'm sure Tom's thinking was that he'd be able to hit.

As the calendar flips, we hit our first real stumbling point of the season. To be expected at some point. Hopefully the normalization is a soft landing and we continue to play good baseball.

But he seemed rushed and as a result has lost some potiential. My scout has him fairly raw with power and eye. Needed to see more minor league At bats to round out his game. Not saying he's ruined, but lost some of that top player look to him. Plus his defense wasn't ready either.

I think his team overall is headed in the right direction. A lot of his draft picks have been turning out the last few years...I'm just saying it isn't yet translate all over the field.

You had to know a week like this was coming. Tough teams. Road games. At least the games were all close.

Tom could have let Leger's power develop a little more, I suppose. Overall, I don't agree with you. Leger hit .365 at AAA before Tom promoted him.

If I had a top prospect hitting .365 at AAA, I would have promoted the guy immediately just like Tom did.

A 2-4 week brings us back down to 2 games under. We are now 7 back of the division and with the Ale playing like it is, we don't even have the 2nd wild card in our sight line.

Tom Wright has enjoyed some early success with the bat and Roger Medina has done extremely well in the bullpen.

30 games a decent enough sample size? He started the year in AA. His contact was there, but it was the rest of his game potiential that made him scary in the Cape.

Don't get me wrong, I rushed 1B Tom Smith , but he had advanced ratings and was a second pick. I'm as guilty as any with this, but demoting kids sometimes really helps IMO. They developi until 27.

I guess my thinking is treat high draft picks white gloves. Misses that high can really set you back.

Road Stout Week Sweep! 3-0 @ MOR (6-4, 12-5, 10-2) and 3-0 @ SEA (5-1, 4-0, 5-2) This lineup really comes alive in stadiums that are hitter friendly. With Death Valley going 4-2, the Stout lead is now at four.

After being the subject of trade rumors the past few weeks, SP Robby Aten threw his best game in a Bats uniform. 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K in a 4-0 win in Seattle. He has been extremely unlucky in his two years here in Washington but with the infield defense playing a lot better now that IF Alex Otero is permanently seated at 3B and veteran SS Antonio Cardenas healthy, Aten is finally getting the help he needs with the gloves.

When you get a multi-HR game from an injury fill-in with two career BLB homeruns (none since 2008), you know you had a good week. 2B Manny Saes has been a godsend for Washington this year. The 27-year-old was cut from Windy City in August of 2009 and immediately scooped up by Washington. He has played 2B and SS this year being the injury replacement for both SS Antonio Cardenas and 2B Danny Romero. He's supplied DWI level fielding at both spots and is hitting .252 with a .704 OPS and 97 OPS+, including a 4-4, 2 HR, 3 R, 5 RBI, BB, 0 K in a 12-5 W @ Morgantown.

Next week Washington travels to Toronto then finishes up the inner league week hosting Los Angeles.

REMINDER TO ALL IT'S A DH/NON-DH GAME WEEK! SET YOUR LINEUPS!

I'm 3rd in runs scored, 2nd in runs against, and 4th in defense. How is my record not better?

Loving Gregg's season so far. 41st pick in the 2004 draft, always sucked in the cups of coffee I gave him in years past, but starting to look like the guy I thought he might be.

Windy City's old guys are still showing how to get it done.
