I debated him and one other player all day long. Was convinced I was going in another direction five minutes before I made my pick. Had to take him. My scout loves him, though I'm sure he's higher on him than what he really is. But by how much?Originally posted by Spectre View PostDang, that's who I really wanted. I think Joiner will be the steal of the draft- is gonna take several years to develop.

He's young, he can develop. My scout's report on his defensive ability was actually much more promising than his current ratings. That's promising.Originally posted by Ryan View PostGlad to hear your scout liked him too. I don't know, with that speed, I really think he could stick in the outfield.

Overall, I think its a great pick. I think he's a high-risk, high-reward pick. If you hit on it, you'll be in great shape. My scout has him as a 7 contact and 4 power- based on the varying scout opinions I have no idea where he actually settles. Ceiling wise he looks like a Jimmy Rosema type talent to my scout.

I never understood how a player can have great speed like Joiner but limited outfield range. It makes no sense to me.

I just assume that a portion of range is the ability to read/get a jump on the ball/effeciency of route, so pure speed wouldn't be the only factor.Originally posted by Spear View PostI never understood how a player can have great speed like Joiner but limited outfield range.
