8 infield range is special. There are fewer than ten of them in our entire universe. And it's rare for one of them to be able to hit at all.Originally posted by Delandis View PostI'm curious s to the rationale. Pat said the same and just wondering why you guys feel that way.
Only two are in the BLB now, and neither can hit a lick.
Someone with 8 infield range who projects to be a good hitter is truly special.
Furthermore, shortstops typically hit worse on average than center fielders, so his bat becomes even more valuable when you put him at short.Maine Guides

If you find a legit defensive OF, usually at most he can play a good 1B, 3B, sometimes 2B. But if Whaley is the player OSA thinks he is, he could actually end up a 8 at SS and 8 at CF with enough reps. That versatility not only helps drastically in roster construction but I would even use it on a matchup bases. Groundballer on the mound? Whaley moves to SS. Got a flyball pitcher on the mound? Whaley moves to CF.Originally posted by liquidcrash View PostHe has the infield ratings to potentially make the move - 8 range, 6 Arm, 7 Turn DP and 5 Error if you go by OSA.
I think he's a more natural CF, and that's where I would probably keep him.
If Whaley is the guy my scout thinks, I probably wouldn't go SS but 2B. It will take time, but I think he could definitely be a 7 CF and at least a 6 2B.
I liked Banda a lot before the 2020 season. Those injuries + lack of PT scared me off.Originally posted by Carlos View PostDenver selects David Banda. He was my #4 on the board. I know there are other players that would be considered better than him, but I know when a guy won't fit my park and some guys picked before Banda would have been a disaster.
Banda can hit and field. He's got the shoulder injury (twice!) but much like DeGennaro in Syracuse, I'm not letting an injury stop me from drafting a player I really like when he's 20-years-old.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

Never mind. The guy I would've chosen is gone.
Carolina took him.

I'm glad you liked him at this spot.Originally posted by fsquid View Postand my trading down just backfired.
Always concerned with CFers as Pat mentioned. Defense is important but man does OOTP overvalue it to the point guys that shouldn't be in the league are rated higher than others. Part of my concern with Jimmy McGraw.
But an up-the-middle bat is important.

Since I like another up-the-middle bat, I'm interested in trading back into the first if anyone is looking to trade it.Denver Bulls

Sorry boys, California and Morgantown have baseball winter workouts tonight until later tonight. If it gets to twelve I apologize.
Don't let this stop you from trying to overpay for pick twelve though.
