So..... who is the prize Free Agent???

This is obviously the deepest class of FA's we've seen so far. Who is the player to get?

    Joe Sierra?

    Vittorio Samarano?

    Jimmy O'Laughlin?

    Graham Tandy?

    DuPois?

    Albors?

    Harcourt?

    Dunlop?

Obviously, I'm biased a touch... but I have to think Jimmy O'Laughlin is going to be a hot get. There are quite a few REALLY nice bats available, but not a ton of Starting Pitching. I think some Starting Pitching that is better than Jimmy might move this offseason via trade, but he's gotta be the prize arm on the market. Give the guy some run support and he'll be special somewhere.

I think you even left Nick Latham off the list. I don't think he resigned with Carolina. This is a great offseason for teams on the cusp of contending. As for the Wildcats, we don't have much to spend. :(

Who cares? I'll never sign a guy like any of these ever.

My only interest is getting a sandwich pick...

Yeah, I think Bullpen folks seem to always be somewhat plentiful in FA. I think this a great class. Of course, it goes over the top if Jistic decides to release Simmonds before Arbitration.

Dude SHOULD get paid in arbitration. I don't know that he will, but he's a machine.

He will. Then I gotta try to sew him up, since I'm losing Samarano's salary. But I got other guys coming up too. Not fun.

Joe Sierra is willing to negotiate a contract, and I have two sims to lock him up. If for some reason I don't, he is the best player on the market.

I wonder if there is going to be enough free money to sign all these guys? Is it possible that one of these guys is going to be asking for $20 million, and no one is going to sign him? Will his demands go down in March? Seriously.

Latham wanted 18 mil/year from me. Not going to happen.

If nobody is offering them contracts, their demands will drop. This is definitely a good year to be one of the teams with money to spend since there's a lot of good players on the market and not many teams who can afford them.

Yeah, by my calculation, I think I am only going to have around $10 mill to spend on FAs. I don't have any glaring holes that can't be filled with AAA guys, but I don't think I have enough to make a splash. I really wanted to add one of the OFs.

                          Maybe Dunlop? Dupois?

Yeah, someone can get healthy quick this off-season. I have a few prediction on who I think it will be.

So, how do we know exactly how much we are going to have for FA signings? I seem to have some cash right now but I am not being allowed to sign guys to extensions so I don't know if my "budget" is actually what I can spend.
