Linty - Did you not think it was strange that he was on the Rule 5 list? Seems like someone would have noticed that a guy on an active roster was on the Rule 5 list and mentioned it.

Of course I knew it looked weird...

But anytime I see a 24 year old catcher who put up 43 doubles in the BLB last year available... I'm going to jump at the chance to pick him up.

I lost on the waiver claim last time... and Morgantown got him... this time I was hoping he'd slip through...

That is weird... In my game he didn't have the "#" symbol which would indicate he was eligible for the rule 5. Did he in your game?

Yep he was on the list of Rule 5 draft guys... he was my first choice in my draft list.

Not that I disagree with you, but someone should have noticed before the draft took place. If I had a guy that was supposed to be eligible and he was on my active roster, I would have said something, wouldnt you?

To play devil's advocate though... if you're not looking to add someone in the Rule 5, why would you look at the list?

I looked at my AAA, AA and A rosters to see if anyone had "the mark" and needed to go 40-man.... then I accessed the Rule 5 pool, but knew the only type of player I was looking for was a Pitcher... so that's what I looked at.

So, there's just one example of how someone could have missed it...

However, on the other side of the coin, had I seen Shelby Houck in the pool... I can guarentee my first reaction would have been a red flag and a message to Andrew.

Thats exactly what I did. I also scanned the list of eligible players to see if there was anyone I was interested in, but didn't notice him on the list...So I guess that falls on me, even though I wasn't expecting one of my BLB starters to be on the eligible draft list. If I have to lose him so be it... its only a game I think I will live.

True. Like I said, I can see it both ways. We need to protect the league, but this happens in one form or another every year.

You're wrong.... your choice to do it when you knew he wasn't eligible was wrong... and your wrong that everyone would have jumped at it is wrong.

I'm guilty too, I guess. Though I had no idea my guy was on a roster. He's older and somewhat risky, so I didnt even check. My bad.

EDIT: So, since the guys that were picked are ineligible, do the other picks slide down since some of them were on my list?
