  • 2035 Draft Discussion - Draft will begin Thur 12/5

he draft utility has been loaded and turned on. The draft will begin Thursday, December 5th! Teams may pick manually anytime before that.

    http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/blb/...draftBoard.php

    Pick Time Limits:
    1st Round and 2nd Round: 4 hours
    Remaining Rounds: 2 hours

The draft clock runs between Noon and 10pm ET. The utility will autopick for you if you go over your time. Managers who go over their time limit will be placed on Autopick until they return. Please make use of the preference list to avoid going over the time limit.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to use the utility.

    Preference List Usage

    - To add players to your Preference List click the check box next to their name and click the 'Add to List' button. You can then move players up and down the list or remove them using the provided buttons.

    Team War Room

The Team War Room is available only to logged in users who are currently in control of a team as defined in the league file. From here, teams can review the available players, see what picks they’ve made and when their next ones are due, manage their draft list, configure their auto draft settings, and manually draft players if it is their turn to pick.

To add players to the draft list, click the check box next to their name, then click the Add To List button. You can add multiple players at once, and they are added in the order they appear on the page, not the order clicked. Use the up/down/remove buttons next to the draft list to manage the players once they’re on the list. The view button will take you to the HTML page of the highlighted player in the draft list.

There are three options under user preferences that GM’s should address:

Auto Draft From List: Checking this option tells the draft code to go ahead and pick the top player off your draft list should the draft come around to your pick. If you leave this box unchecked the draft will not auto select from your draft list even if it is your turn to pick.

Auto Draft…: Checking this check box tells the draft code to make an auto selection of your pick. If you have this box and the auto draft from list box checked, the draft code will first check your draft list for the first available player, and then auto your pick only if there are no available players left on your draft list. If this box is checked, but the auto draft from list box is not checked, your draft list will be ignored when the draft auto picks for your team.

…After Round: If you have the auto draft option checked, and entered a draft round number in this field, then the draft will wait until that round has completed before auto picking for your team. For example, a team may wish to make manual picks in their first three draft rounds, but auto pick the remaining 7 rounds of a 10 round draft. In that case, you would click the auto draft check box, and enter 3 in the draft round field. The utility will then auto select for you in rounds 4 and higher. If this field is
left blank and the auto draft box is checked, then all rounds will be auto drafted. If this field contains a number, but the auto draft box is not checked, then no auto picks will be made even after the round specified.
The save button will save both the draft list and the user preferences. You MUST click this button to save changes to your draft list.

If it is your team’s turn to pick in the draft, the “Add To List” button will be replaced by a button used to make a draft pick. In this case, check the box next to the player you wish to draft and click the button.

Remember to click 'Save' after you make any changes to your draft preferences or player preference list.

Documentation so the aliens know what Denver was up to.

We take SP Cy Rocha with the first overall pick. This is the first time I can remember my scout agreeing with me. Had this guy #1 and I did to. Cy has had a rough couple weeks but he also pitches for the worst defensive team in the country. Or one of. His strikeout rate is impressive and projects to be elite. He keeps the ball down. There are some concerns with control according to my scout but we think they are manageable. There is no pitcher in the draft as good as him in my opinion.

With 1.17 we forego making a trade because our top hitter was still available. Denver takes SS Hayden Baney out of Chatham.

Left handed middle infielder with projected power, slick fielding, and great plate coverage is hard to find, I think. My scout doesn't like his contact potential but I feel like my scout hates everyone's contact potential. Couldn't pass up on this guy.

1 23 LF Cody De Angelis
2 12 SP Elliot Van Sloten
                    2 16 1B Abel Dudik
                    2 17 CF Lance Burns

With four picks in the top 41 and none until 108, I'll write a little blurb....for Carlos.

De Angelis is a 17-year-old HS prospect who can field his position, probably in right, hit for power and run a little bit. He's got plenty of room to grow into his 6'4 180lb frame as well. Only a 1-time All-Star but OSA loves his power potential and my scout likes his all around ability. His 2034 and 2035 were very different seasons but I think he's going to be a solid OF for us way down the line.

Van Sloten is a 20-year-old NCAA lefty groundballer who has potential in six pitches. Good stamina. Two-time All-Star. Finished 2nd in Pitcher of the Year voting for 2034. His 2035 was a bit down and my scout isn't enamored but I think he has a future in the BLB.

Dudik is a 20-year-old NCAA 1B but we will try and teach him LF. His accomplishment list is long. He's durable. He's fast, especially for a 1B. And he's intelligent. His 2034 .422 batting average ranks 14th All-Time in NCAA history behind names like: Dave Perkins, Ian James, Jimmy Anderson, Jimmy Jeffs, Norm Cupp, Dave Marion, Amari Gibbs, Mal "The Crow" Brady, Dave Piekarski, Mike Morla, Dave Chance and Ricky Figueroa.

Burns is a 19-year-old NCAA CF who really emerged this season. My scout thinks his range and error are top notch in the OF and after trading away last years 1st rounder Jeremy Allen in the Tom Stark deal, we wanted another defense first speedster in CF. If I had another late 2nd, or early 3rd, maybe even an early 4th, I probably would have gone another direction as this seems a bit high for Burns. But he switch hits, his bat has improved, he's fast, elite defender who has never been hurt.

I really wanted CL Zeshaun Lewis who went to Hartford to fall at 1.23 but he went at 1.20. I also really wanted RP Max Connelly to fall to 2.12 but he went 2.10 to New York.

I will also write to please Carlos:

1.24 - "LF" Lofton Sheppard - Not an outfielder, but a capable defender at first base, hopefully. My scout really likes his ability at the plate, with a "sweet swing," high average and good power. OSA isn't quite as high, but I'll go with my scout on this one, along with the stats. Sheppard finished 3rd in the Outstanding Hitter voting in both of his first 2 seasons in high school. He slashed .428/.539/.827 for his high school career, and hit .382 in what is by far his worst season. He had a 27-game hitting streak and then followed it up nearly immediately with a 24-game streak. He's durable. Never hangs his head after slumps or losses.

Hopefully all of the high school production will translate to the BLB.

Denver takes 2B Joseph Fedak out of Puyallup High School.

Fedak was not a starter but he did appear in 31 games last season. He managed to hit .349 with a .434 OBP. We think there's a high charater, high contact, high walk rate hitter with good fielding skills in this guy. We will take it and hope he develops the way my scout envisions.
