Originally I said the playoff format would be 4 division winners plus 4 wildcards, putting 8 out of 20 teams in the playoffs, which seems like a lot. Any ideas?

How about 4 division winners and one WC per league? 6 out of 20 sounds more reasonable than 8, imo.
Then the best record in each league gets a bye while the other 4 teams fight it out in the opening playoff round. Division winners host WC teams, with the bye-holders hosting the winners of those series.SIN CITY GAMBLERS since 1990

I don't think byes would be fair...especially because of pitching. The bye teams have wayyyy more time to rest and the pitchers are fresh, creating a large mismatch.Comment

Yeah, I wasn't sure how OOTP handled byes and pitcher rest, but I guess byes aren't fair from an injury and pitching rest perspective. Assuming you want everyone playing, you'll have to incorporate either more teams, or just run with 8 teams making the playoffs. But that does seem like a lot.SIN CITY GAMBLERS since 1990
