  • Playoff Format

Originally I said the playoff format would be 4 division winners plus 4 wildcards, putting 8 out of 20 teams in the playoffs, which seems like a lot. Any ideas?

How about 4 division winners and one WC per league? 6 out of 20 sounds more reasonable than 8, imo.

Then the best record in each league gets a bye while the other 4 teams fight it out in the opening playoff round. Division winners host WC teams, with the bye-holders hosting the winners of those series.

I don't think byes would be fair...especially because of pitching. The bye teams have wayyyy more time to rest and the pitchers are fresh, creating a large mismatch.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how OOTP handled byes and pitcher rest, but I guess byes aren't fair from an injury and pitching rest perspective. Assuming you want everyone playing, you'll have to incorporate either more teams, or just run with 8 teams making the playoffs. But that does seem like a lot.

Yah I don't really like the idea of byes. I guess the only real question is 8 playoff teams or 4.

Four, go old school and have pennant races.

I'm going to replace the poll on the main page for this.

Right now it looks like 4 playoff teams is the most popular choice. Thanks to those who voted.

As of right now, I'm in favor of 4. However, I'd be down for 8 if we get a few more owners.

                        What is the owner count?

We're shooting for 20 total. Right now we're at 18 or 19 I think. It's possible we'll get more interest, but I don't want to have more than 20 teams to start.

Reasons being, the more people, the greater change I'll constantly be replacing people for not participating. Also, this is my first time running an online league so I don't want to get in over my head.

If 20.. 2 leagues of 10... 4 divisions of 5 teams... 4 teams in the playoffs is my vote.
