Led rookie pitchers in just about every stat. (Well, the good ones anyway)
Manny Mendez has been quoted in the press lately stating his desire to play for Pawtucket.

    Just sayin.

    DL Stout Sluggers

    Harry Keppel

    Finley Kinsey

Would I consider them the absolute best? No. But I think they should garner a few 2nd/3rd place votes.

    Both batted over .300 (Keppel .326, Kinsey .319), both drive in 110+ runs (114, 117), both hit 25+ HR's (28, 30), both had .900+ OPS (.953, .929), Kinsey was 3rd in Total Bases.

    Please vote.

    IL Pale Ale Candidate

SP Martin Carlton - Player Page

    16-4, 2.20 ERA, .97 WHIP, 180 IP, 142 K, 1 CG SO, 86% QS, All-Star

This award belongs to the Eager Beaver. First in ERA. Second in WHIP. First in winning %. 4th in wins. 4th in opponents OPS. 3rd in VORP (lower because of 6-man rotation). 2nd in K/BB. I think Wilkerson could steal some votes, especially how he closed out the year. Plus, he has a lot more strikeouts.

    IL Stout Slugger Candidate

OF Miguel Angel Padilla - Player Page

    .286, 38 doubles, 40 HR, 131 RBI, 113 R, All-Star

I almost didn't even include him after his poor final week of the season. A lot of great hitters in the IL this year. I think MAP deserves consideration. He carried the best team in the league. No other D.C. player had 90+ RBI or 21+ Homeruns or 100+ runs. I think if this award was for MVP he is a lock, but did he have a top three season just based on stats? I'm not sure.

    IL Last Call Candidate

CL Joe Alveraz - Player Page

    6-4, 35 saves, 2.74 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 75 IP, 92% save, All-Star

I think he deserves some votes. He didn't have a better season than Chad Mullen and no one is holding a candle to Ken Bayer. But did anyone, besides those two, out pitch Alveraz from the bullpen? I'm not so sure. I was counting on Roger Simonds to be my closer for the '90 campaign but he was injured early and Alveraz ran with it.

    IL Refreshing New Brew Candidate

SP Derrek Tucker - Player Page

    9-8, 3.74 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 166 K, 161 IP, 1 CG SO, 67% QS

I think Derrek Tucker had the best rookie season of any pitcher. He was very reliable. Lead my team in strikeouts. Had more strikeouts than innings pitched. His WHIP is top notch. I tried to limit his innings as he is only 22-years-old. I had a hard pitch count. I think Wilmington's Hector Pagan had a great season and he is going to be a great, great pitcher. I just think Tucker had the better season. Pagan had a lot of walks, a poor WHIP and wasn't as consistent (55% quality start). He did have a better ERA and a lot more strikeouts, so I could see voters going either way, depending on preference.

IL Refreshing New Brew Candidate #2

1B/C Tyrone Abbott - Player Page

    .331, 117 H, 12 HR, 59 RBI, 48 Runs, 90 Games
Two time IL rookie of the month

Not sure what to expect from voters as Abbott only played about half a season at the BLB level. But had he played the full season at this level (.330, 25 HR, 100 RBI) he would have walked away with the award. The kid has been hitting in the #3-#6 spot for the best team in the BLB. Also has been #1 on the team in average and #2 on the team in RBI since his debut. Curt Wells played a lot more games but in my opinion didn't have nearly the season. Depending on your point of view, I think you could actually argue that Abbott was the best rookie in all of the IL. He was easily the best rookie ever since his call up. It was just a little late in the season.

Ok then, I'm going to push for Pawtucket (Obviously not pitchers)

    Stout Slugger DL Candidate

3B Víctor 'Slider' González - Player Page

Some will of course vote for Knight, but Victor is #1 or #2 in just about every power statistic in the DL. Also 2nd in walks. Thank god I locked him up to an extension

    Refreshing New Brew Candidate(s)

RF Samuel Helmrich - Player Page

G AB H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K AVG OBP SLG SB
    110 380 115 35 2 7 60 35 46 .303 .361 .461 0

Brought him up early in the year and did what I expected and then some. Only 23 and couldnt be happier

    or..... (if he qualilfies)

    1B Carmem Chamissa -Player Page

First full season! Last year had 210 AB so not sure if he could even rate. Had an awesome second half of the year. 32HR snuck into the top 5 this past sim.

Wish we had a breakout player award so I could nominate 2B Bob Burleson

Yeah, feel free to post about the DL.

Just so happens the attention whore owners all manage in the IL.

    .327, 107 H, 12 HR, 53 RBI, 44 Runs, 84 Games
Two time IL rookie of the month

Not sure what to expect from voters as Abbott only played half a season at the BLB level. But had he played the full season at this level (.325+ avg, 25 HR, 100 RBI) he would have walked away with the award. I still think he is arguably the best rookie this season in the IL. The kid has been hitting in the #3-#6 spot for the best team in the BLB. Also has been #1 on the team in average and #2 on the team in RBI since his debut.
