I think as a full time player he could hit easily hit 20 HR's. With Ray playing as well as he does against RHP though I don't know if he will get that shot. I'm glad to have signed him...he was my only off-season acquisition.

If 1B Shawn Ray wasn't hitting .452 so far this season Hampton would take over all 1B responsibilities. As it is now he's a great pinch hitter and will start against LHP's.
Nice pick-up. Unfortunately he just didn't do well in Dallas, but he had a good, although short, run in Wilmington. I had seen he was available a few sims ago and was surprised he wasn't picked up. My only guess is there's so much depth at 1B and on paper he's average, especially since he doesn't have the pop most 1B have. I'd consider him to be a James Loney/Casey Kotchman type.

Off to a fine 4 - 8 start. My catchers are a combined 3 for 38. 90% of my offense is coming from my OF and DH.

There are only 2 pitchers in my 5-man starting rotation. Seriously, a SS with a good arm would put up better stats than my #3 - 5 guys. I may have to try it.

Another 5-1 sim, a great way to start the year.

The only downfall is now we have lost our #2 starter Don Russell and our closer Hans Gordinho. Russell will be gone for 8-9 months while Gordinho is only out for 2-3 weeks.

We finally get a taste of this new Bock in the next sim, when we face off against the equally hot Bandits.

    5-1 week (8-4 overall)

    2-1 vs. Washington
    3-0 vs. Wilmington

    - Welcome to Batavia Mr. Hampton. Pete Hampton signed a $4 mil/1 year contract a few weeks back that hardly even made the news. In his first week he hits .700/.727/1.100 with 1 HR and 6 RBI's. - Our two top pitchers (Gonzales and Castre) have struggled mightily to open up the year but once again Athey plays his butt off when the season kicks off. This week he picks up another win by allowing no runs in 6.3 IP and striking out 8. Pete Hudder was also thrown back into the starting mix and picked up a win by allowing no runs in 7.3 IP and striking out 7. Way to pick up the teams guys.

    - On offense...33 BB/35 K. For the pitchers...19 BB/55 K.

    - Next up...3 vs. Cali, 4 at Baltimore. Our first shot against the Porter this season kicks off! With a big 7 game week hopefully we can see how our 6-man rotation experiment plays out.

I think it's a nice little draft class. There's some talent there.

    Solid 4-2 sim

Swept Syracuse and lost 2/3 to Indy. The young guys are starting to hit with St. Laurent, Guinane, Bowen, and Dixon off to hot starts this year.

The bullpen is pitching masterfully but the rotation still has problems. I may have to get a bit creative to fix it...

3-3 after going 1-5 to start the year. Pitching has been awful and the hitting has been average at best.

Made a few waiver claims this sim:

SP Nate Taylor (DAV): He went 1-15 last year and has never proven he can be consistent. However, my scout thinks he is a #3 or #2 on some staffs. He is probably already the best rotation option for my team not named Tucker.

1B Ron O'Fallon (PHI): Eh. Taking a chance that there is still something there. OSA loves him and so does my scout. He no longer thinks he is a starter, which is good because I currently don't have room for him in the lineup.

I plan on making my 1st round pick this year. The last two years I've drafted middle relievers in the first round. They're not bad players but my system is stagnant as heck now as a result.

I haven't spent hardly any time at all on it, but my initial reaction is: Meh. Looks like an average class on the surface, but still a bit of digging to do.

There were some players I was hoping were coming out that aren't. But a few good looking players.

I liked last years class more, which IMO was very under rated.

Hyundai's single-A team could use some attention. They have three pitchers on their roster, eleven players total, and have been outscored 174-17 so far this season. I noticed something amiss when most of my single-A guys hit over .500 this week.
