The Guides stay #1 and have a huge 7-0 week behind the bat of Turell Morris who hit .414 for the week with 5 HR's and 12 RBI's. Washington also had an outstanding week as they went 6-1 and have won 8 of their last 9 games. On the flip side California and Toronto went 1-5 while Syracuse and Pawtucket went 1-6.

Performance of the Week
LF Tom Plain, CAR - Last Monday the Tobs outfielder had the 2nd best hitting performance of the season against Batavia. In six at bats he had two home runs, two walks, and two singles while scoring four times and driving in three. The former 2027 3rd round pick by Syracuse is hitting .280 with 5 HR's and 16 RBI's on the season.
Injury of the Week
3B Jamie 'Superfly' Kitchen, MAI - The ultra popular 30 year old third basemen was injured on May 23rd against Pawtucket in the top of the 1st when he tried to score from 2nd on a single by Dave Tibbs. Midway to home plate he came up hobbling and was easily thrown out at home. After limping back to the dugout he was taken inside and later diagnosed with a strained hamstring and will be out for several months. On the seasons Kitchen is hitting .292 and has a +3.0 ZR at third.
Prospect of the Week
RF Bailey Handy - The 20 year old was drafted by Carolina this past week thanks to his huge bat despite of his injury history. This year for UNC he's hit 25 HR's in 49 games while batting .365. His 2029 year was marred by injuries though and he hurt his back on May 18th this year and is out for the rest of the NCAA season. The Tobs are going to give him plenty of time to get healthy and are hoping a major league training regiment can keep him healthy going forward.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Jamie Rush of Wilmington is hitting .435 in May and hit .462 last week. On the year he's at .428 and is the one player who could hit .400 for the 1st time in BLB history. He hit .3934 in 2028 and was oh so close to breaking Adam Nickell's record of .3937 that was set in 1987. We think he'll do it this year. He's also still on pace to break his own single season hits record as well as Sonny Fulton's stolen base record of 87. We think he'll do that too. #NoJinxHere
2. Half of the top eight paid in the BLB are position players, Dylan Owens is #1 at $32.5m, Jamie O'Hearn is #3 at $28.5m, and Erik Jackson and Manny Nieto are tied at #5 at $26m. Owens is hitting .265 with 6 HR's, O'Hearn is hurt for another month, Jackson is hitting .095 and Nieto is out for another three weeks.
3. On May 24th Seattle traveled to Baltimore. The Bats had Dave Teel on the mound while Baltimore trotted out Malik Wilson. At the end of nine both pitchers were still in and neither had given up a run. Wilson got one out in the 10th before being pulled for Carl Abadee who struck out the next two batters. Teel got one out in the 10th before walking Gil Banda and being pulled for I-po Chai. Chai then gave up a single to Pat Owens. A fielders choice threw Banda out at home but then Erik Shockley hit a double which scored Owens and ended the game. Chai threw 13 pitches and got the loss. Abadee threw seven pitches and got the win.
4. Santo Domingo hasn't enjoyed their change to the DL as they are currently in 5th place in the Lager. One bright spot this past week though was pitcher Jarrod Peacock who hasn't had much luck this season either. On May 26th though he threw 5.1 innings against Hartford. He allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out an amazing 13 batters before hitting his pitch count. Known to have more stamina than most the home fans were not pleased at this decision by skipper Elijah Cook and let him know as much. Peacock's line for the game...K, K, K, GO, K, K, FO, 2B, K, K, K, BB, S, K, FO, K, K, K, K.
5. Jamie 'Grumpy' Hutter of the Blues has hit safely in 21 straight games, the longest of anyone this season. In the past 18 games he's hitting .474 with 18 stolen bases. Drafted in 2024 with the 16th pick in the 1st round this is his 3rd full season in the BLB and he's only 23 years old.
