  • The 2030 Daily Keg - Week 23

    (AP)

The weekly flip-flip continues as Seattle goes 4-2 and takes over the top spot from Maine who went 3-3. The Millers from Pittsburgh had the best week though as they went 6-1 and took over the 4th wildcard spot in the DL. The Washington Bats went 5-2 and have secured another Stout title. Meanwhile California went 3-4 with a team ERA of 6.45 and are all but out of the IL wildcard race.

    Power Rankings

    1) Seattle Pilots (125.4, +)
    2) Maine Guides (122.2, -)
    3) Washington Bats (119.6, o)
    4) Miami Sharks (110.7, o)
    5) Pittsburgh Millers (101.5, ++)
    6) Denver BC (101.1, ++)
    7) New Orleans Dukes (100.7, o)
    8) New York Knights (99.9, +)
    9) Hartford Whalers (94.8, -)
    10) Philadelphia Freedom (93.5, --)
    11) Wilmington Wildcats (93.4, --)
    12) Baltimore Bulldogs (91.5, -)
    13) Montreal Exports (89.7, o)
    14) Santo Domingo Rum Runners (89.0, o)
    15) California Kodiaks (87.5, o)
    16) Pawtucket Patriots (85.8, +)
    17) Phoenix Roadrunners (81.8, -)
    18) Batavia Red Jackets (76.5, -)

    20) Indianapolis Racers (73.1, -)
    21) Toronto Canadians (61.7, +)
    22) Los Angeles Dinos (61.1, -)
    23) Carolina Tobs (57.1, +)
    24) Syracuse Snappers (56.7, -)

    Performance of the Week

P Dave Theisen - The Illinois native who was the 103rd overall pick in the 2024 BLB draft has had his best season to date in the majors and he kept it going on September 14th against Batavia. In 7.1 IP he allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out 13. Sadly though he didn't get the win as Washington didn't score until a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th by Jaylin Richardson. On the season Theisen is 16-6 with a 2.62 ERA.

    Injury of the Week

LF Alexis Pena - The 26 year old came over from Phoenix this season after signing a 5 year/$25m contract with the Bulldogs and has played in 103 games for Baltimore, 86 of them in left field. On September 16th he went down in the 7th though after he was on a 2nd and went all the way home on a Tom Clark single. He was safe in a play at the plate but came up limping badly on the way to the dugout. An MRI showed he had a severe strain in his hip and will be out for over a month. On the year Pena is hitting .285 with 3 HR's, 34 RBI's, 30 SB's and a +14.9 ZR in the outfield.

    Prospect of the Week

1B Coltyn Campbell - The 20 year year old for Brewster hit .360 with 14 HR's and 53 RBI's in 48 games this season. In his first season in the CCBL he was named to the Cape Cod All-Star team and scouts say his "typical approach is cool, slow, and methodical."

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Geoff 'Mr. Reliable' Dail went on a tear this week and stole eight more bases while only being thrown out once. The Miami Shark now has 51 for the season, two behind DL leading Jamie Rush and four behind Jamie Hutter who leads the entire BLB with 55. From 2025 to present he has stolen 345 bases, 79 more than second place Ricky Figueroa of Denver. At 29 years old he has an outside shot of breaking the career record of 677 held by Jerry Daly. Not bad for a first basemen.

    2. Montreal is 20-26 since the All-Star break. Baltimore is 22-27. The Exports are now three games back for the 4th wildcard spot in the DL while Baltimore is four games up for the 4th spot in the IL.

    3. Joy-shan Guo of New Orleans has stayed under the radar most of the season thanks to Turell 'Two Ton' Morris and his amazing season. Guo though hit another five home runs this week and in the last 18 games has homered 13 times. On the season he's batting .332 with 40 HR's and 124 RBI's. Without him the Dukes would not be in the playoff hunt yet he wasn't an All-Star and his only award this year has been one Player of the Week.

    4. Windy City still has the top minor league system even after losing Ricky Pizarro due to his BLB playing time. Their #1 prospect, Pat Wilder, is 2-4 with a 2.56 ERA for Windy City so Hartford might jump them pretty soon to take over the #1 spot.

5.When you look at the top five ranked position players in the league you just can't help but hum "which one of these is not like the others...". To be fair though Swope's 10.6 WAR is 2.6 higher than Morris and 3.2 higher than James.

    1. Ian James: .357, 33 HR, 98 RBI
    2. Johnny Swope: .358, 47 HR, 129 RBI
    3. Zach Bradley: 359, 32 HR, 84 RBI
    4. Jamie Rush: .373, 13 HR, 49 RBI
    5. Turell Morris: .339, 66 HR, 161 RBI

Im surprised it’s not higher... Your AAA team is always good, so it makes sense.

I wonder which of those teams were MASH units...

I needed some BLB this morning.

Then I remembered I hadn't read the Keg.

          BLB was provided this morning.

Figueroa should have stolen more bases this season but OOTP decided he couldn't hit as well anymore because OOTP.

In 2019, the record holding season for most relievers used, we were trying to win. After making the playoffs in 2017 and 2018, the Pilots were in contention until mid-season when SP Dave "Double D" Dunham blew out his arm to never pitch again. Then the fire sale happened.
