    (AP)

This time the DK interns have secured the correct newspaper and we're no longer going off of last weeks news. With everyone playing a full schedule this week it was the Seattle Pilots and the Miami Sharks who each posted 6-1 records to lead the league. Seattle now has a 15.5 game lead in the Bock while Miami has a 1.5 game lead in the Lager. Coming in right behind them were Batavia, Hartford, Santo Domingo, Washington, and Syracuse who all won five games. On the flip side Wilmington, Windy City, and Montreal all went 1-6 while Indy, New Orleans, and Denver won only two games.

    Performance of the Week

C Ian 'Pickles' James - Even though it seems like he's been around forever 'Pickles' is only 32 and still putting up some of the best numbers in the league. On July 2nd against Windy City he had two home runs, three runs batted in, and scored four times in a 9-1 Rum Runners victory. On the year he's hitting .272/.315/.512 with 18 HR's and 45 RBI's while posting a 2.3 WAR.

    Injury of the Week

P Aiden White - The BLB injury gods were kind this week as the only thing we could locate after scouring the wire was White straining his back on July 1st against Los Angeles and being listed day to day. In 22 games the 29 year old is 0-1 with a 1.23 ERA and 0.85 WHIP.

    Prospect of the Week

3B Archie Thorington - The #3 overall prospect in the league made his debut in the BLB this week with Wilmington. In seven games he hit .154/.214/.192 with a double, a walk, and two strikeouts. At 24 years old he was an international amateur free agent from the US Virgin Islands who the Wildcats signed for $3.35m back in 2027.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. The Millers had almost a double digit lead in the Ale before the month of June rolled around. During that fateful month they went 12-15 while Hartford had the best record in the league by going 20-7 and now the Whalers lead the Ale by 1.5 games. During the month Hartford posted a 2.61 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP, both also tops in the league. Pitching and defense my friends, pitching and defense!

    2. Turell 'Two Ton' Morris is settling into his new digs in Syracuse. When the most prolific slugger in the league over the past five years was traded a few weeks ago it sent shock waves from coast to coast. Reports say the slugger was very unhappy with the trade but is slowly coming around. So far he's hitting .280/.368/.440 with 2 HR's and 7 RBI's in 13 games. No one over a shorter period has done more with the long ball than 'Two Ton', please see the SOTW for more.

    3. When Tom Benjamin of Carolina came across the ticker for notching two wins and posting a 0.79 ERA this week against Seattle and Maine we had to stop a minute and think....who? Selected with the 4th pick in the second round of the 2028 draft this is the 23 year olds first full season in the BLB. In 15 starts he's 9-4 with a 3.24 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He throws upper 90's and has a fastball, curveball, changeup and forkball in his repertoire.

    4. Some fun interleague match-ups kick off this week as Baltimore travels to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia travels to Miami to open the week. Then later on Maine hosts Seattle, Indianapolis travels to Baltimore and Santo Domingo heads to Philadelphia.

    5. The All-Star game approaches and will be played July 18th. Currently Chris Pineda leads the IL in votes while Dusty Phares leads the DL. If the game were played today it would feature Batavia's Spence Perry (7-2, 2.16 ERA) on the mound against Miami's Louie Ruetter (12-1, 1.56 ERA).

Yeah we’re screwed. Thought we had a shot at the division there for a hot second.
