    (AP)

Syracuse goes 5-0 with a four game sweep of Toronto and have a firm grip on the #1 spot in the power rankings. The Snappers are 8-2 over the last ten and are 1st or 2nd is almost every batting category in the DL. Batavia also had a big week as they go 5-1 and move to 9-17 on the year while Pittsburgh went 5-2 but even at 17-9 are currently fourth in the Ale. On the other side of life Toronto went 0-6 as they allowed 45 runs in six games and boasted a 7.79 team ERA.

    Performance of the Week

1B Tommy Davis - The 29 year old first basemen rocked Toronto on May 5th to the tune of five hits, two home runs and six runs batted in while scoring four times himself. Needless to say the Snappers were 14-6 victors. He is now hitting .337/.406/.642 with 8 HR's and 25 RBI's in 25 games.

    Injury of the Week

P Negar Chavchavadze - The 25 year old is getting his first shot in the BLB and so far in 10 games has posted a 5.27 ERA and 1.90 WHIP. Scouts believe though he has room to grow and could be a starter down the road. Unfortunately on May 2nd he came in for relief but was pulled after 25 pitches with elbow pain. An early diagnosis is that he will have to have surgery to remove bone chips in his right elbow and will miss at least four months.

    Prospect of the Week

P Korbin Haskell - At only 17 he has a long way to go but in high school this year he's 3-0 with a 2.75 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in eight games started. A 2035 All-Star selection he is regarded as a great teammate and has all the tools to be a top flight starter down the road.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. The BLB might be renamed the Brawlers Baseball League after we had our third fight in four weeks. This time on May 4th Los Angeles and Batavia got into it after Wes Perry beaned Dave Marion in the bottom of the sixth following a three run blast by Milt Shankman. Perry got six games off and Marion got three.

    2. The New Orleans Dukes threw a combined no hitter against Pittsburgh on April 30th during a 2-0 victory. Erik Foley started things off with 7.2 no hit innings, Kevin Hurley came in to finish off the 8th, then Jayden Crawl went strikeout, fly out, ground out to end the game.

    3. The DL wildcard currently features 17-8 Hartford, 17-9 Wilmington, 17-9 Pittsburgh, and 12-14 Miami. Meanwhile the IL wildcard features the rest of the Stout teams that are behind 16-9 Washington...New York, Baltimore, Carolina, and Philly.

    4. The Rookie League kicks off this week for its 7th season. So far in the six seasons since it's inception the Cleveland Bobcats (SEA) are the pride of the league as they have been to the playoffs all six years and have won three Rookie League Cups. Last season though it was the Rochester Monarchs (BAT) who defeated the Boise Bluegills (CHI) three games to one to capture their first championship.

    5. With the Rookie League starting that means the 2035 BLB draft isn't far behind. Currently some behind the scene deals have taken place and the rumor is the Denver BC Club with the first pick are leaning towards SP Cy Rocha of Stanford. The 20 year old throws 100 mph, has four pitches, is a two time NCAA All-Star and on top of all that is one of the hardest workers on the team. Sounds like a future star to us.

I hadn't seen the combined no-hitter. Odd that the game makes no mention of it happening in the news section or history.

Are you even drafting if you don't win a Rookie League title?
