  • The 2036 Daily Keg - Week 21

    09/01/2036

    (AP)

Batavia goes 5-2 but it's enough to take back the top of the power rankings. Joining them in the 5-2 club are Washington, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Philly, and Phoenix. The big dogs this week though were LAD and Hartford who each went 6-1. The Whalers have now moved into the 4th wildcard in the DL while LAD is only four games back from the 4th wildcard in the IL. On the other side of life Seattle, Denver, Maine, and New Orleans all went 1-6.

    Performance of the Week

P Ian Johnston - On August 31st again Montreal he went 8.2 IP, allowed no runs, struck out eight and walked one in a 2-0 Millers victory. On the season the 24 year old is 11-9 with a 3.52 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 125 ERA+.

    Injury of the Week

P Hoon 'Yard Man' Park - In what many consider the end of his career 'Yard Man' suffered a partially torn UCL on August 25th against Windy City and will be out almost a year. At 44 years old he was 8-6 with a 3.92 ERA on the year. He came into the league from South Korea in 2021 and was signed by the then Syracuse Slammers. Over the past 16 seasons he was a 5x All-Star and compiled a 182-156 record with a 3.46 ERA.

    Prospect of the Week

RF Sidney 'Doofus' Ishibashi - We talked about Doofus a few weeks back but he put on a show in the first round of the A playoffs. On August 27th against the Moose Jaw Moose he hit two grand slams and a solo shot during an 18-4 victory. It was all for naught though as the Moose knuckled down and took game three to move onto the second round. On the year Ishibashi hit .284/.401/.481 with 17 HR's and 71 RBI's over 118 games.

Five Things I Think I Think

    1. Seattle went 1-6 this week and it might have cost them a shot at the Bock. They now trail California by 8.5 games but they have a huge three game series this week in Seattle. Then they have three more starting September 23rd so we shouldn't count them out quite yet.

    2. Batavia's Spence Perry started out the season 0-2 with a 5.73 ERA. He's now 10-2 with a 2.92 ERA and hasn't lost in 24 starts.

    3. Phoenix now holds the upper hand with a 54.8% shot at the playoffs while Carolina sits at 45.0%. During the month of August no team had a better record than the Roadrunners who went 20-9 while the Tobs went 14-15. Rory Elia once again leads the BLB with 44 home runs after hitting 12 last month but he needs some help if Carolina is going to hang on to the wildcard.

    4. Indy's Garret Clausnitzer has been on fire over the past 8 games. The 25 year old has allowed 0 runs, struck out 11, and recorded 7 saves. On the season he's 4-3 with 40 saves, a 1.87 ERA, and a 1.10 WHIP.

    5. The minor league playoffs are about to wrap up the second round this week. We'll provide a more thorough coverage of the championship series next week.

Mac Avery may be the most overrated 20 game winner ever. The beneficiary of great run support, if I remember that season correctly.

Was gonna say Kelly Carpenter but he only got to 19. I still can’t believe that.

Hard to believe Carroll only won 20 games once.
