(AP) - The penultimate chapter of the 2039 BLB season belonged to California, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore who all went 6-1 for the week. Meanwhile Syracuse, Toronto, and Batavia all went 5-2. On the flip side Phoenix, Indy, Pawtucket and Carolina all went 1-6. In a crazy season that has come down to the wire we still have two division titles up for grab and multiple teams fighting for the wildcard, but we can talk more about that later.

Performance of the Week
P Javier Rueda - The Bulldogs pitcher shut down Phoenix on September 23rd by going 8.0 innings, striking out seven, allowing only two hits, and walking one during a 2-0 Baltimore victory. He struggled early this season while playing for Denver but after being traded in July he is 7-2 with a 2.50 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 13 Bulldogs starts.
Injury of the Week
SS Oscar D'Addona - The Bats continue to drop like flies as D'Addona was lost for the rest of the season after fracturing his ankle on September 22nd against the Blues. After walking in the 8th he was involved in a fielders choice at second the next play and slowly had to hobble off the field. X-rays showed a break and he will need at least four months to recover. On the season he was hitting only .204/.263/.306 but he is considered one of the best defensive short stops in the game.
Prospect of the Week
P A'Shawn Corbett - Discovered out of Aruba just a few weeks ago by Syracuse scouts who were actually on vacation, the 16 year old is already #91 on the Top Prospects list. He throws five pitches, low 90's on the gun, and looks like a potential #3/#4 starter. The organization is already worried about his work ethic though as he's blown off practice several times already and was found playing a PS10 in the clubhouse.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Congrats to Seattle outfielder Richie 'Powder' van Luik who not only looks to have the .400 batting average feat wrapped up, but set the single season steals record this last week. He is now currently hitting .403 and has 90 steals. He swiped four bases on September 22nd against Philly to not only tie the record but break it in front of the home crowd. He is also now only five hits short of tying that record as well. What a year to say the least.
2. With the new schedule change a few years back the BLB regular season went from 26 weeks to 25, with the last week just a final three game series. The change has allowed the teams who are "set" to rest and the teams who are fighting for a playoff spot to maximize the last week. This week the schedule gods came through as we have several match-up we couldn't be more excited about.
3. The first one is Los Angeles at home against Denver. The Dinos are 92-67 while the Bulls are 91-68. Records like that in the DL get you a #2 seed but in the IL these two teams are fighting for the final wildcard spot. The season series is 7-2 in favor of LAD so Denver definitely has their work cut out for them.
4. And the week is kicking off...
