Interleague this past week as the Lager took care of business over in the Import. Both Dallas and New Orleans went 5-1, as the Drillers now hold the top spot in the weekly Power Rankings. Can they keep it up? Maybe if 37 year old Zeus Alder keeps playing out of his mind. On the flip side the Import teams of Philly, Phoenix, and Baltimore did not enjoy their time playing the Domestic as they all went 1-5. Some team leaders: Batavia scored 39 runs (Bal 16), Pawtucket allowed only 15 runs (Tor/Syr 37), Seattle hit 14 HR (Bal 2), Pawtucket allowed only 2 HR (Car 13), Phoenix swiped 15 bases (Ind/Mon 0), Hartford struck out 71 opposing batters (WC 33), and California held opponents to a .209 average (Wil .310).

Performance of the Week
CF Remington Melville - Not known for his power (he hit 4 HR total last season), he smacked two out of the park and drove in four yesterday to complete the sweep against Pittsburgh. The 32 year old signed a minor league contract with a major league option this off-season and is making only $750k for the Cyclones. He's fast, can play all three outfield positions, and rarely strikes out. Sounds like a good deal to us.
Prospect of the Week
2B Trey Densmore - The senior for Oklahoma State has a chance to be a top pick in the BLB draft in just two short months. At only 20 years old he's hitting .455/.509/.717 with 5 HR, 32 RBI and 6 SB all while starting every game at second base. In fact he's never missed a game playing for the Cowboys, as he has started 179 games in a row at second. Coaches love his work ethic as they say he's the first one to the park and the last to leave.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Robert 'Stretch' Jessee smacked four more home runs this week and was named the Domestic Player of the Week. He now has 583 total, and is projected to hit 62 on the season. We doubt he'll get that many (his career high is 47) but he could hit 35-40 if he stays healthy. With only 29 to go to tie the record for all-time HR held by Jamie O'Hearn, he could not only pass up JD 'Hurricane' Rice this season but pass up O'Hearn as well.
2. Forty four year old Pat 'Baja' Arballo is on waivers after Dallas signed him to a $1.08m extension last season, and many around the league are shaking their head as they wanted him to retire. He hasn't pitched in the BLB this year, and last season he went 5-10 with a 6.42 ERA in 17 starts. The all-time BLB wins leader, and only player in league history over 300 wins, still keeps on wanting to play though. He reportedly told his agent he wants to pitch until he's 45, which is only six weeks away. Will another team give the knuckleballer a shot...or will the 3x Pale Ale winner and 5x All-Star spend his last season(s) in the minors?
3. Ryan 'Danger Man' Anderson got his first start of the season April 6th against Batavia. It went walk, single, fly out, walk, walk, single, walk, and double before he was pulled. For those scoring at home that is 7 ER on .1 innings pitched, for an ERA of 189.0. The good news for 'Danger Man' fans, this past week he went 2-0. The stat lines from those two starts combined was 14.3 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB, 10 K. He's now 2-1 on the season and his ERA is 4.91. Management in Washington has to be breathing a sigh of relief.
4. Second basemen Wyatt Tedders is leading the BLB with a .429 average, and also in smiles. Just this morning he signed a 6-year contract extension worth a total of $107,600,000 with the Clowns. He was Wilmington's first round pick back in 2043 and all-though not yet an All-Star, he was the Domestic Designated Driver last season. He's started 807 games at second since coming into the league in 2045 and has a career slash line of .286/.366/.491 with 95 HR, 315 RBI, and an OPS+ of 121.
5. What's on tap? This week we are focusing on two 'maybes' as the 7-5 Clowns travel to the 10-3 Whalers, and the 9-4 Cyclones travel to the 8-5 Dinos. Last season Wilmington won 79 games, while New York won 72 games, and the both missed the postseason. Both teams went to the playoffs in 2048 and are looking to get back to them. Are they good enough to do so...well maybe. It will be a good test though against a Hartford team that won 86 games last season and the back-to-back champion Dinos.
