    06/30/2053

And we're back to the Drillers, the DK's pick to win it all this season, in the Power Rankings drivers seat. To get back on top Dallas went 6-0 this past week with sweeps of Indy and Santo Domingo. They have now won nine in a row and have a four game lead in the Lager. The other top week was last years champ, those pesky Bats, who went 5-1. They swept Batavia and took two of three from the Pilots. On the other side of life Toronto went 1-5 while Batavia went 2-5.

    Performance of the Week

CF Raymond Dixon - The 26 year old was the second overall pick of the 2047 draft by the then Indianapolis Racers. He's now in his 5th season for the Racers/Wildcats and is one of their bright young stars. This past week against Montreal he turned in the 5th best performance of the season when in five times at the plate he had three hits, two home runs, drove in four, scored three times and walked twice. One of those home runs was a walk-off three run shot with two outs in the bottom of the ninth that sent the 25k+ in attendance into a frenzy. On the season he's hitting .291/.373/.515 with 4 HR, 15 RBI and 9 SB.

    Prospect of the Week

P Cole Good - In the Wilmington edition of the DK, Good was their second overall pick of this years draft out of Baylor. So far in four Rookie League games he's 1-1 with a 0.59 ERA, 0.65 WHIP, and 16 K's to 2 BB. Between college and the minors he's now up to 90 IP on the year though, quite a jump from his 51 IP last season at Baylor. We'll be keeping an eye on him to see what the Wildcats have in store.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Charlie Guevin was the 24th overall pick of the 2040 draft by Pawtucket and has turned into one of the most consistent closers in history . After registering just four saves in his first two full seasons, he has averaged 46 saves a year since then, and he's on pace for 53 this season. At 33 years old he should be able to pitch another couple seasons at least, and he just hit 350 career saves which places him 39th all-time. If he keeps this pace up he could reach 550, which would put him 10th all-time. Of the 39 players who have reached 350 saves, his 2.10 ERA is ranked fifth.

    2. We're on pace to have two single season records broken this season, doubles and triples. In 2007 Toronto outfielder Enrique Ferreira hit 66 doubles, a number that has never been equaled. This season New Orleans outfielder Dennis Brantley, who hit 40 doubles last season, already has 41 on the year. He's on pace to hit 84 which would completely smash the record. The next man up is Maine's Nathan Baldwin who is on pace to hit 61. As far as triples, that record of 22 was set in 2029 by Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa. Meanwhile Seattle's Kynan Shaw has 13 so far this year, and is on pace for 27. Next up is Batavia's Jerry 'Snake Hips' Coleman who is on pace for 18.

    3. Pat 'Melody' Nunes is back from his sprained ankle and back in the starting lineup for Phoenix...at 44 years young. In 36 games so far this year he's hitting .300/.361/.527 with 7 HR and 15 RBI as he keeps moving up the all-time leader boards. With 610 career home runs he won't catch Robert 'Stretch' Jessee who's up to 668, but he's only two away from tying Jamie O'Hearn and moving into second all-time. He's also on pace to tack on another 37 hits, which would give him 3,513. That would move him one hit above Dani Trujillo and into second place all-time there as well. Finally he's 5th all-time in RBI with 1,929. He's on pace to hit the 1,950 mark but still has a season or two to go before he would break into the top three. Considering he's still playing at a high level who says he can't do that as well.

    4. On the other end of the age spectrum is Evan Turner out in Carolina. The 19 year old will turn 20 before the season is out, but he's leading the Import in home runs and RBI...as a teenager! He's on pace to hit .284 with 42 HR and 114 RBI, will easily with the New Brew, and has a shot at the Stout Slugger as well. It's like Rory Elia all over again. Elia broke into the league in 2034 when he was just 20 years old, and hit .258 with 48 HR and 110 RBI. He then proceeded to go to 10 All-Star games and win two Stout Sluggers. He will be in the next Hall of Fame class and many figure he will be an unanimous selection.

    5. What's on tap? This week we get Dallas at Pawtucket in what we figure could be an DLCS preview. So far the Drillers are 4-0 against the Patriots this season, and outscored them by 17 runs over those games. Another fun match-up is Carolina at Denver. The Tobs hold the 3-1 advantage this season, but that four game series was in Carolina. All though with these teams it doesn't seem to matter much. Denver is 21-21 at home, while Carolina is 19-19 on the road. Both of them are below .500, but per the Playoff Odds they also both have a tad over 50% of making the postseason.

Streak wise Dallas has won nine straight, Carolina has won four straight, and Indy and LAD have lost four straight. Beck Behanna (PAW) now leads the league with a 19 game hitting streak after Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano's streak came to an end at 26 games. As we mentioned last week it's the eighth time in his career he's gone over 20 games. Coming in second is six players tied at four.
