  • Patriots 1991 Quick preview (hitters)

    Starting Lineup

C Hector Gonzlez - An injury second half slowed Hector, but a monster season anyway in 2009. Ave .288/ 29hr/ 102rbi/ 114walks. Expecting the same in 1991. 27 years and the future is bright.

1B Carmem Chamissa - Lived up to his 1989 n#2 prospect billing. Awesome second half after a bit of a slow start. Ave .289/ 33hr/ 35.8 VORP. The OSA rating amuses him. My scout loves him. Another young buc who should continue to improve in 1991.

2B Bob Burleson - Ok I have to admit, didnt ever expect an Allstar performance when I traded for him in 1989. Overachieving year in 1990 is an understatment. Ave .314/ 17hr/ 98rbi. Plays a good 2B. Not expecting the numbers this time around, but .275/ 12hrs would be just fine.

SS Hamilton Remy/ Rogers & Cole- This is a make or break year for Hammy. Sure he can hit the ball, but his 24 errors and lack of range is unacceptable. Kids down on the farm ready to step up in the future. Still, VORP of 20.2 so he gets the start against Righties while defensive shortstops (Rogers & Cole) gets the nod versus Lefties.

3B Victor 'Slider' Gonzlez- What can I really say about the 25 year old DL Outstanding Hitter Award? Ave .298/ 39hr/ 136rbi/ 116 walks. Sort of wished he'd cutdown on his strikeouts, but whatever. Lets do it again "Slide"!!

LF Joe Saxton - Will start the year off at RF with the injury to Helmrich. .244 hitter with Baltimore with some power. Also a defensive upgrade from Morgan.

CF Murdoch Turcotte - Rookie will make his debut at CF, but Estevn 'Superfly' Daz will also be getting his shot against righties. This will be a week to week watch until someone takes position by the horns.

RF Samuel Helmrich - Injured in spring training so veteran Roger Morgan will get the nod until Samuel returns to action. Last year Samuel was everything we hoped in little over half a season of play. Ave .301/ 7hr/ 37dbs.

DH Artie Latham- He just goes out and does his job. Solid year last year and expect the same thing. Ave. 301/ 15hr/ 99rbi.

    Off the bench

    C Maurice Bergeron- (Age 27)

SS/IF/OF Toby Rogers- (Rookie Age 24)

    SS/IF Dusty Cole- (Age 27)

Vetreran LF/RF Roger Morgan- (Age 36)

    Team Predicton

If the pitching improves Pawtucket will see its first above .500 since 1982. Does Pawtucket have a shot at winning the division??? Ummm, nope. Can Pawtucket sneak into a wildcard birth and be in the playoffs for the first time in TEAM history????? Possible.
