Better do it soon. The potential cap savings from releasing a player get progressively lower with each week, I think.

He will have to clear 6 million+ to get the cap room to sign the rookies. It looks to me like the only way he can do that is by releasing starters.

A few issues here. If the Boston owner is still around, we should immediately be discussing punishment for being over the cap, as per the rules, section I. Unless I am not interpreting them right (the way it is written, there may be some ambiguity). Note that he has already lost his 3rd round pick, though. It is just something that the game automatically does when you are over the cap. By the way, the site says Boston is owned by Hoosier, but I thought Hoosier owned North Liberty???

Anyhow, if Boston is indeed AI, the way forward is not clear to me. LB Jumbo Samson is indeed a solid player. But other than that, I am not sure I would bother to sign the rest. Indeed, if it means losing a starter, I am not even so sure I would sign Samson.

I never even realized you could be over the cap. I guess that's what the ( ) numbers mean. I only noticed that ( ) meant negative values. Heh, confusing notation. I always thought the game just did not allow you to be over cap.

Boston was Hoosier's old team - I think he was here in the very beginning or something (I wasn't so I can't remember). Hoosier came back as NLB.

One way to go over the cap is to slide up to the cap but without the minimum roster limits. So, for example, to sign 40 players and be very close to the cap. Or sign all of your players except a punter and a kicker. The game will automatically sign players to take you to the minimum roster and will go over the cap to do so. But the human owner is hamstrung: they cannot sign any players (including rookies) unless they get under the cap.

That's what I find tricky about the rule:

1. Each team must be under the league salary cap at the conclusion of Free Agency, Stage I. Failure to do so will result in league mandated cuts and a possible loss of draft pick(s) at the discretion of the League Office.

Does that mean you only have to be under the cap at the conclusion of FA, stage I? Or does it start at FA, stage I and stay in effect until the end of the season?
