Great game Yuma. But then again, they're always great games.
I thought this one was it, I though I had finally broken the curse. No more freaky endings. No more fluke plays. No more last second losses. I was finally going to beat Yuma.
Late in 3rd quarter we're up 17-0, holding Yuma to 2.30 yards per pass atempt, 3.93 yards per rush and 0/6 on 3rd downs (3 of thier 8 first downs had come off from our penalties).
Yuma puts together thier first scoring drive right at the end of the 3rd quarter to make it 17-7. But we're still up by 2 TDs with one quarter left. It's not the end of the world, right?
We force a three and out on thier first drive of the fourth quarter, and push our way down to the Yuma 36 yard line where a Casey Baumgartner fumble ended what was my last chance to put the game away.
Then Yuma chews up the next 7+ minutes, scraping and crawling thier way back down the field, scoring with exactly 2 minutes left on the clock.
After an all to predictiable three and out from us they got the ball back at their 24 with 1:10 left an no time outs.
Dillon had been struggling all night long. Even after Yuma's last two scoring drives he was only completing just a little over 50% of his passes, only 1 completion over 20 yards, only 4 over 10, and his average per attempt was 3.76.
I think the only incompletions he threw on that last drive were to spike the ball and stop the clock. Our defense might has well not have been on the field. One play left, no timeouts, outside of field goal range... touchdown.
Unreal.
