  • Rules Reminder - Roster Transaction Blackout Period(s)

Just a quick refresher. For all intents and purposes, once your team is done for the season all roster transactions that involve the removal or addition of personnel should be suspended until the appropriate time. From the rules page:

    - Teams cannot sign Free Agents from the time of their last game of the season (regular season or post season), until the Free Agent period of the following season.

    - A team may release players at anytime before and during the season with the exception of the period between the team's last game (regular season or playoffs) and the mid-week export prior to the OSFL Super Bowl. If a player is found to have been released and signed by another team during the blackout period, the League Office reserves the right to reverse the signing. To accomodate cuts that will impact future seasons, players can be released the day of the OSFL Super Bowl.

Was going to make it up this year but not anymore...

I am breaking rules in my first export.

This seriously changes my feelings about Pearl Harbor. If we lose guys like C Lasika, ILB Callis and CD Hambrick and K Sanyika and to a lesser extent some of the aging vets and some of the role playing types, we go from a team that I thought had a shot at being decent next year to a team that is just a complete rebuild. It will take years to replace the four guys mentioned, I know I will have a shot to resign them in FA and I have a franchise tag but I most likely will have to pay a lot more to resign them in FA and that takes away from the money I will have to fill holes elsewhere on the roster and this team has quite a few holes on its roster.

Not re signing these guys would be like breaking another rule imo, tanking. If these guys dont re sign with us next year there is no chance we are competitive.

In what way would you be breaking the rules there? You can re-sign those guys, they're already on your team, nothing in the rules against that.

I just went and signed a couple of FAs, which is not allowed. Sorry about that again, everyone. I had no idea, but should have known the rules better, long as I've been in the league...I guess I am a bit clueless sometimes. Man, prior to today I had even forgotten there was a Rules subforum.

resignigns are fine as long as the player is in the last year of his contract, it was refering to exploiting the loop hole of signing more than 53 players because the game no longer makes you stay under that limit until you have another game

No, it's no adding or releasing players period, even if you stay under the limit.

                        To simplify:

-At this point if you are not one of the 4 teams left in the playoffs there should be no comings or goings from your roster. No new signings, no releases.

                        - Renegs for existing roster members are fine as long as they are in the last year of their deal.
