Man, I am going to be pretty tempted to stay where I'm at 1-29, but I told myself I'd only make one first round pick and will probably abide by that. Especially given how I splurged in FA.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

No comments since the first round? I guess it's been all in the draft chat - but that's not preserved to look back on - so -
At 3.23, the Bees make their third pick of the '21 draft in Michigan State DT Junior Bello. We hope he'll bring a war-like presence to the DL. At this point we are taking shots at players whom we only hope will make the roster, but Bello seemed like one not to count out.
Undersized for a DT, but what he lacks in strength (something his detractors pointed out in college), he more than makes up for with motor and athleticism. The Bees might consider kicking him out to LDE, although he'll have an uphill climb against a young player the Bees are already very high on, Kerry Stuart of the +12 rookie camp.
At only 8% developed, he's considered a project and a 'tweener...but a very intriguing one. Stood out head-and-shoulders above everyone else we were looking at.Last edited by Aston; 10-04-2011, 08:08 AM.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

With the 2nd Round pick I've taken ILB Leroy Preston. Seems a solid MLB, he have great combines, best Solecismic and Bench Press among all the LB (ILB and OLB), his only lack is PosDrl (and coverages), but nobody can be perfect. Also, is 61% developed so he can be useful in the first season. One curiosity, also like S Nate Sinclair, my 1.5 pick, is from UNC. So we have a Tar Heel defensive duo and I was thinking to pick OLB Andrew Federspiel, in the 3rd round if the WR wasn't available, or 4th round if he was still there but Denver pick him 15 picks before, may seems a little obsessive, but is coincidence, I swearIt would be nice having a defensive trio from the same school :P
At 3.5 I've picked WR Clay Cassidy. I didn't think he would be available at 3rd round with fever for the WR. Doesn't have a real good combine, but neither have a real bad combine. BPR in the 50s, and his RR have to be better if we look at his Sole. Also, my scouting staff says he's VU so wrong or not, I had to make the pick. I needed some receivers, and possibly he was the best choice available.Hartford Dragons

4.5 - QB Carlton McKenzie. I don't know why I pick him, well the truth is I had 4 guys in my list, roll a dice and he was the winner. Also, I think one of the guys I want could be there in the 5th round. But I have to admit he doesn't seem the kind of QB I like, low sense rush and too many high bars is suspicious. I guess is a lottery pick, if is good, great, if not, it doesn't matter a lot.Hartford Dragons

***TRADE***
Utah makes an aggressive move up here with Portland, jumping from 5.9 to 4.17 and giving up its 2022 4th in the process.
It has been an extremely defensive draft so far for the Bees - no surprise, given the performance of that unit last year. Utah's first four picks of the year have all been on defense, and Utah used spare 2nd and 3rd round picks to make trades for defensive players.
And now, a little bone thrown for the offense. RB Herman Woods arrives to a confused and struggling RB corps, ready to rock. Let's hope. Very reminiscent of the Ken Schacht pick four drafts ago in 2018. Like Schacht, Woods has a hell of a breakaway gear, and like Schacht, Utah moved up in the fourth round to get him.
Let's hope this story does not end with, "...and like Schacht, Woods would look great but suck because his coach couldn't figure out how to GP him." Knock on wood.Last edited by Aston; 10-04-2011, 03:02 PM.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

With my 1.11 pick I took DE Kevin Newman. I heard he is cousin to Randy Newman so we are hoping to get a new jazzy song to come out of the tunnel at home games to. In the second round I took OLB Jackie Blue because I'm pretty sure I can come up with an awesome nickname for him that will have the rest of the league ooohing and aaaahing. With my 3rd round pick I picked my nose since I had traded my draft pick last year for a new Gatorade cooler and some used jock straps. With my 4th round pick I took Rondell Johnson because he had G by his name and that means "Good" right? Well we went with Center Walt Nichols with our 5th round pick, mainly because he looked really good bent over the ball like that.
Okay, I had other reasons but I'm sure the ones above are a lot more fun to read. Took Newman in the first as I think we need to get more pressure on the QB, especially in the AC West, besides he's a punishing hitter and I'm sure he can make Phoenix's backfield look like a barroom dwarf tossing contest the first he sacks Rico Oglethorpe. Went with Jackie Blue in the second looking again for someone who can apply some pressure off the edge, and with Jumbo Samson, could make a dynamic duo. Plus he appears to have some hope of realizing the need to tackle a running back if he comes his way with the ball. I believe I gave up my 3rd rounder this season last season to get Hawley and he was a good pick up for me so no regrets there. With my 4th round pick I took Guard Rondell Johnson as he appears to be some sort of road grader and Terrance McCumber asked me nicely to get someone to make a few more holes for him as he wants to rush for 1500+ yards next season. Went Center with the 5th pick as Moss is getting a little long in the tooth and I'm trying to keep McCumber very happy.Last edited by nelmsm; 10-04-2011, 10:01 PM.GM - Davenport Brawlers BLB
