Thought I'd get the ball rolling, realizing that this is pre-franchises...

    2022 OSFL Free Agency
But wow, open season on QBs? Rico Whalen (15-69/69) and Desmond Kaplan (16-55/55) are some veteran arms who have started for a long, long time...Morgantown may be looking to move on, but if Whalen's tenure with the Bayhawks is over, I'll be shocked!

Pearl Harbor's James Arnold (12-46/46) put together a 24 TD, 12 INT year in '21, but the Defenders may be looking to move on from him as well. St. Paul's well-traveled, and two-time ex-Bee Tim Hein (12-48/48) lost his job last season and will be looking for a new home as well. And then there's elderly (but 4.3 fast) ex-Washington and Phoenix hero Tom Skeen (13-45/45), who does nothing but win games. And Yuma's Melvin Caver (6-39/39), who put up a 94.7 rating over 9 starts this year but will have to fight the probably accurate impression that Yuma could do the same with a 2/15 rookie.

Most surprising name to grace the list so far...Charlotte's Mel Beisel. He and Randy Boone were the two we zeroed in on in the '18 draft, and in a bombshell, it looks like CHA are not seeking to give him a second contract! You never know, though, it could still happen. After working his way to a solid year 3, he regressed in 2021. Beisel should have all kinds of talent, so there are a couple contenders in mind that I'm hoping won't get him.

Talking about other positions isn't as interesting to me so I'll leave that to the rest of you guys...there are going to be some jewels in this FA class, though, depending on who gets the tag. TE, WR, C, G, LB,...hellll-o Vinny Ireson!

Yeah, I'm QB hunting this year. Kaplan was a move the previous regime made. I'm sick of his turnovers and he's not really a fit for the direction I'm trying to take.

Thing I hate is looking at all those tasty players ... who then get tagged. Boooo to the tag. Boooo!

The name "Buddy Foley" does not inspire respect from the youngsters so they just ignore him.

Are there any rule changes this year? Better yet, what are the rules for FAs for this year and are there any changes in the foreseeable future?

I'm a jackass. I offered so many contracts that by the time I got to Beisel and Madera, I had zero cap room. I'll call it "first year back gaff."

Is it possible to franchise one and then resign him, regardless of available cap room?

Well, now I've got the room. But at the time, it was week 1 of the playoffs and I couldn't release anyone to save room and year 1 of the the contracts wouldn't work with the space I had left.

Honestly I'll probably franchise Madera. I'm not the biggest Beisel fan and I'm tired of having to franchise Jamison every year. But we'll see.

Probably a good choice unless you want to stick with Beisel. Jamison is almost guaranteed to never re-sign unless you keep franchising him at this point...I think it's either franchise & re-sign, or franchise & franchise & franchise...

I love me some Jamison though. He's a beast. But, he already won't resign from the computer franchising him while I was away. So, you're right...
