  • 2022 FA 1.4 SIM Complete - Next SIM Sunday 12/11

    http://simgamingnetwork.com/osfl/lea...t_12_09_11.zip

Next SIM Sunday 12/11. Files due by 11am ET.

FA SIM 1.5 is next up on the list.

Please note the results of the two rule change polls that are now closed. These changes take effect immediately

    1) There are no longer restrictions on player contract renegotiations. You are free to renegotiate with any player on your roster that is currently under contract.

    2) The Grey Sheet rule has been replaced with the new 3 year minimum contract for any FA during FA 1.X.

Let me know if anyone has any questions about these new changes. They are now in place for this 2022 season.

Columbus AI signings not meeting the 3 yr minimum have been reversed too.

So glad we went with the "easier" free agency signing option. ;)

Yes, yes, I know, growing pains and all. Good thing this happened when we're nearly full otherwise Brad would be spending all day rejecting AI deals.

I would guess that AI trades would get to go through regardless? I mean, if we can't outbid the AI, we're all screwed, right? :)

How is it done in other leagues, I am curious to know. We're just feeling our way around this rule this year, so far I kinda like it. Forces me to change up my FA tactics. The downside is I've been completely destroyed by everyone else in FA. I don't know if I got even a single prospect so far. Booooooo!

How's this not trying it out?

its not trying it out as in 'this is a temporary rule change"

when the nfl started instant replay it was only for 3 years and there was a provision it was to be reviewed after that to see if it would stay in place

i dont recall any such provision in the vote, or did i miss something?

considering the new influx of owners its highly unlikely a vote to reverse the new system will pass

Gents, just wanted to let everybody know what my hold up is regarding the draft. I have to wait for this next file (tomorrow) to come back with interviews before I will make my pick. After I get the file back it will not be long before I make my selection. So, look for it tomorrow evening. Sorry for the delay, but thought you all should know.

No prob...thanks for the heads up. St. Paul was in the war room crunching numbers but I need to get to sleep. Now I don't have to worry about holding things up.

I'm new to the league and I'm not sure what the "old" rule was. The 3-year rule for FA-1, as far as I know, is fairly prevelant in MP leagues.

If memory serves me correct, it was originally feared (based on a few occurences) that teams would hoard salary cap $$, snag the top quality FA's on 1-year deals and then trade them for 1st rounders. That didn't seem realistic.

So the concept was to make FA's a bit more risky and force you to commit $$...and hopefully guaranteed $$...to future years. I believe the rule is used with the "No Sign and Trade" rule.

However, having said that, I don't know exactly what the rules are here, tbh. :)

You were required to give players on the grey sheet the minimum of years they were asking for. So, if the top rated guy wanted 5 years you had to offer at least a 5 year contract.

Players not on the grey sheet were fair game.

My main gripe with the 3 yr thing is that it puts an arbitrary limit on offers. Why would I offer a 13 year player a 3 yr contract? That's just stupid.

The fact that we even have to put rules into FOF MP is the most frustrating part of all of this. But it is what it is.

Anyway, if it's unwise to offer an older player a 3-year deal, they will be available for 1-year offers in FA2. But realistically, I've signed plenty of 13-year guys in FA1 to no-risk 3-year deals (little or no bonus money).

I've never operated with the "Grey Sheet" rule before, so I don't want to dog it out, but it seems like a pain to have to verify which guys are on that list and which aren't. I wonder how that's policed? It just seems like a pain for everybody involved.

It is/was, which is why we moved away from it.
