Yeah, going 1/8 on third downs was killing you guys, especially when we were converting 50% of ours.
The Irish outscored us 21-16 outside of the 2nd quarter, but luckily we got the better of them 17-0 for those 15 minutes. 10 of our points that quarter came off from drives starting on their side of the 50 yard line (the other starting all the way back at our 43). One of those coming off from a Max Montano fumble at the 42, the other from a ballsy, but unsuccessful 4th down attempt from their 37 with less than 2 minutes to go in the half.
Burt Newman has looked downright average these last 4 weeks, luckily for us Casey Baumgartner has able to pick up the slack. Also good to see Emmitt Hall score 2 TDs in his first game back from injury (including the first of the freaky back-to-back kick return for TDs to start the second half)
Big win for us. By no means enough to guarantee the division, but I certainly feel more comfortable being up 3 games with 6 left to play rather than being up just 1 with one more game against Boston on the schedule.
