And I want you guys to continue having these discussions. I want as many owners as possible to voice their thoughts. I'd love to have a solid league wide vote heading into next offseason to either adjust what we're currently running with, scrap it and move to/back to something else, etc.

      FA Rule

I think we should have draft max per position to eliminate the 1 year 2 mil or 2 year 4 mil...For example: WR - 1 to 5 year exp 8 mil per year, 5+ years 15 mil per year...people can still be creative with contracts knowing some guys like long term or short term

Just for clarity, what are the rules for late FA? Still 2m max per year for 1-2 years?

Thanks for the quick response. I thought I'd seen that earlier in the thread but couldn't find it again

I'm re-reading page 6 of this thread and seeing the last time we had discussion about this, the support for the 1-year and 2-year exceptions is a lot less warm than I remember.

This was brought up in another league where we're talking instituting FA restrictions:

I like the 3 year minimum but hate the exceptions. I was in the same league as Aston that did this. It was a nightmare to keep the rules and exceptions in mind and impossible to easily enforce.

The same end result can be achieved with the 3 year minimum if you offer a minimum bonus (30K total) to guys you think unworthy of a 3 year deal. You only pay the salary if you keep the guy around.
We've had several years of the current rule now. How does everybody feel about it?

I now feel if it's going to cost us any owners it's not worth the slight difference the exceptions allow for, and that the FOF MP league standard of 3 years is a more sensible solution.

I remember when the change came up the only problem I really had with it is it's more of a pain in the ass for the commissioner. I still feel the same way. I'd probably just go whatever way with this that Brad wanted to go.

I'm a rookie here but I prefer 3yrs with no exceptions.

Btw this rule might be outdated in the new version. In FA1 players ask for a lot more $$ than in FOF7. So, dropping the $$ requirements and just going with a 3 yr min rule would make more sense.

I hate the 3 Year rule....

i think we should see how it goes first before we go making changes. however noting that the new league min is now ~750k we should adjust up accordingly with the 1yr/2yr salary restriction

Just an FYI.....players in this version don't like renegotiating and NEVER sign before the stage they say they want to sign in. I've rarly seen or been able to get a guy for less than what he's asking. These guys are bitches about money man.
