  • Map of OSFL Teams - Geographic Discussion Thread

Just threw this together real quick. I added the 27 teams that are in the owners list so far. For those that don't have a specific city (Washington, S Maryland, Ohio Valley, etc) I just did my best. If you have a specific city in mind or a specific latitude/longitude, let me know.

    http://osfl.oldredboat.com/html/OSFLMap.html

The map size is 1024x768 so will look best if your resolution is set to that or higher.

If it were up to me, I'd add another team in California and Texas, one in NY and one in Minneapolis and get rid of one of the Maryland teams and a couple of the Ohio/Indiana/Michigan teams.

How close do teams have to be before it starts hurting them financially?

          I agree...

We need at least one more team in both Texas and California.

            Considering

Man, I always wanted a team in Ft. Wayne. I'll voluntary move the Ft. Wayne Komets to Phoenix Arizona.

It's open, it's geographically sane, and looks like fun.

Ft. Wayne moves to Phoenix, Arizona. Team logo and name to come soon. I've got some research to do.

Anyone ever heard of a place called New York City?

              Or.... even Brooklyn?

              Staten Island?

I've been swamped at work this week, especially today, but I plan on sitting down with the teams list this weekend and taking a look at who needs to move where for the good of the league. Apologies for not having a ton of time to devote to things this week, but thanks very much to those filling in on the forum with contributions, insight, advice, maps, web work, etc. Your help is very much appreciated.

Sully and I are organizing the league, I'll be gathering the exports and running the sims, but this league will be what YOU guys make it and I'm happy to see we've assembled a great group of active and interested owners.

We've got 28 owners now. 4 more and we can hammer out the finalized divisions and start to get the preference draft process rolling. Thanks for being patient!

Northern Cali really needs a team. Sac or SF is wide open.

I can't see not having a team in Detroit (although we BARELY have one now), but if need be, I will move.

Thanks to those who have moved. The owner list thread has been updated with, I believe, everyone's current location. Let me know if anyone isn't where they want to be.

                          A few observations:

                          - We now only have one Maryland team, nebulously located in "Southern" Maryland. Thanks to those who relocated.
                          - We still have three teams in Ohio. Ohio Valley, Lake County, and Cincinnati. I'm thinking derek2455 (Cinci) should be the one to move, seeing as how he chose his location latest among those teams. Since OH has two teams in real life, I'm inclined to let the other two teams stay unless there's a strong argument to the contrary.
                          - We now have two teams in Iowa. I'm thinking it might be best if PhantomLord were to locate his team somewhere else, possibly in the Northwest where we don't have a lot of representation. But mostly anywhere other than Iowa will do, really.

Anyone else have any thoughts? Everything else looks pretty decent to my untrained eye....

3 more owners to fill this thing!
