2024 FA 2.3,4,5 SIM Complete - Next SIM Thursday 05/24
Is there a reason we don't have the same FA rules for the later rounds as the 1st stages?
This isn't a knock on Utah but a 1 year/$12 mil contract for a punter...really? I understand this game isn't the NFL but isn't realism something people enjoy? I mean what rookie would want to be drafted in the OSFL when you can get a monster payday being undrafted.

If I remembered to make another offer on him he would've been a $14 mil rookie punter.
I'm curious why everybody tried to sign Lorenz, when Spearman is rated higher now and went for less than half the price? Either way I got a $5.5m bargain in comparison

I'm starting to think my uploads aren't uploading. I swear I put some higher bids in and a position change on my SS rookie to FS. I need to make sure I check the stage tracker.
Edit: Yeah, I offered a reneg to Gentala and it's not in the transaction log. Dammit.

I have no idea really. Spearman looks pretty darn good but for whatever reason everyone just focused on Lorenz. Spearman seems like only distance (which is what I have in Compton, but better. Spearman might end up at 100 strength). If Lorenz has decently comparable leg strength but much better directional, he would be a better answer than Compton for me.
That was just my situation though and the reason I didn't really bid on the other guy. I don't know if Lorenz is going to be good enough to win the job. A lot of people like kick strength in their P's and your guy is a stud there, so I think you came out of this quite nicely.

As for FA rules, I'm fine with whatever everyone else agrees on and will go with whatever the rules state. I know that most leagues who do employ the 3-year rule do so only for FA1 or part of FA1, for whatever reasons. Maybe the thinking is that only prime FAs need that sort of protection, and guys who got passed on through seven rounds of drafting are fair game for whomever has the cap space.
The only thing a 3-year rule would have done in this case though was to make the winning offer something like 3 years, 20 million or so. It would have been no more realistic, and maybe less so, because rookie free agents don't typically get signed to multi-year deals anyway.
I guess in general the RFAs and draft/Early FA leftovers aren't considered significant enough to have to put in house rules in place for.

^^^ This. There's a divide between FOF and real football, and I think the rules address this in satisfactory, balanced fashion.
yea, to be clear, I wouldn't complain if there were rules in place to limit it either. Although a rule for cosmetic purposes and not fairness/balance (if that's what it would be) seems like more trouble than it is worth.
Probably we are just given too much cap room overall in FOF. Tons of teams sitting around with 40, 50 million in cap space and never digging into their pockets to use it is pretty silly too.
Guess a solution would be a steep cap reduction for all. Wouldn't mind it if that's what everyone wanted to do.
That's really the only manageable fix. Policing FA2 is not worth it. The other leagues I'm in go with the 25% cap reduction, definitely squelches the crazy FA bids. I'm not advocating either way. If it did come up for a vote, I would say yes, but I'm fine like it is too.
