New Orleans has a pair of very dangerous receivers in Darrin Southern (remember his crazy dash score out of the draft?! what was it...it was something obscene) and Bryan Sidharta, on top of their stellar (and unconventional) defense. Great challenge/matchup.

Awhlll hail the Randy. In each of the past three seasons in which we've made the playoffs, he's come out the gate swinging with a 100+ QBR (before you know, losing it in the 'Bowl). Today would prove to be no different.

He was a dazzlingly efficient 10.4 yards-per-attempt and was able to deal some serious damage to a secondary that was bent on stopping him. He feeds on pass aggressive dimes! (Unless it's Denver or 2022 Dakota, in which case he apparently poops himself)

I possibly left in my week 17 Los Alamos "Let's Sit Earnest Giang" depth chart...well, whoops :P So we really needed the D to come up big, and they did. The stud WRs had their big plays, but McGinn was harassed enough with sacks (4-27) and interceptions (3 of 'em, one from each of my corners) that it threw him off his game. And his running game was MIA today.

So -- great, great showing from the defense, the special teams (see below), and the passing game, and we needed all of that. Also 6 FG's from the kicker, not bad!

Some ugly starts to this for both offenses, by the way. Our first play from scrimmage was a sack with an unsportsmanlike tagged on, so we were in 2nd & 30 before we knew what was happening. 3-and-out there, refs *can* keep us down this time (unlike a similar situation vs Columbus)...New Orleans one-upped us in the bad start category though, with their first play being an interception, and their first three drives being INT-missed FG-INT.

Well... Our coach ran the ball on I think 25 of the first 27 offensive plays for us. I've never seen such a long run of bad dice rolls. Mind numbing. Even with that we played pretty well, just blew it late to a team we couldn't stop enough with a turnover that wound up being the deciding factor.

GG Nutah. I contributed to my own downfall by showing you too much respect. I knew you would put up some points on me and we'd need to score 30 somehow, so I put in a risky, aggressive gameplan.

Normally with this team I've been throwing about 11% deep, and 80% of those are the shorter options. I noticed you were 22nd in YPC on defense, so I figured throwing it deep was my only chance. I set it up for about 25% deep throws, most of those being 20+ yards.
The first INT we threw was only a short pass, so we would normally have thrown that anyway. The other 2 were both 20+ yard passes, so I think my gameplan was responsible for this.

You scored points on our mistakes, and with how well your defense played, we had no chance.

GL for the rest of your playoff campaign. You're gonna be tough to beat

Yeah, that's what you get for respecting my team!

My secondary has had such an up-and-down year. Not quite sure what to make of it; they are quite good, and have been very good over the past few seasons. From 2019-2022, a span of four years, we were top 5 in yards/catch. Ironically the drop-off has been since we added our second stud corner. We had no corners until 2021, when we got Robinette.

Playing Columbus and Gainesville this reg season didn't do us any favors, but we got burned plenty, including by the team we're playing next. I hope this new group is coming together fast. Good luck to you next year!
