  • How to Create a Batch File.

A "batch" file allows you to switch back and forth between single-player leagues and multi-player leagues. Here is the step-by-step process to seperate both single and multi-player universes. This will allow you to access each universe at a double click of an icon.

I got these instructions from the WFL Forums but changed them around a bit to suit the needs for the OSFL so thanks to whomever made these.

    1. Go to your universe directory maintained in the FOF Folder on your computer (usually C:\Program Files\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\universe)
    2. Create a folder called "OSFL" and a folder called "NFL" (the "OSFL" folder will be your MP folder for the OSFL and the "NFL" folder will be your single player folder with the NFL team names and cities.
    3. Now copy the original "frfoot.fcy", "frfoot.fni" and "frfoot.fgr" files from your "UNIVERSE" folder into your "NFL" folder.
    4. Now download the fcy, fgr and fni files from the OSFL website and extract these files into you "OSFL" folder.
    5. Next on the list is getting your logos in the right folders. Download the "OSFL" logos (the *.bmp files once available) and put them in your "OSFL" folder.
    6. Put your "NFL" logos (*.bmp files) or the logos which automatically came with the game into your "NFL" directory.

Now that you have done that, you have all the files in the right spot. Next up is making a batch file that will move the files around everytime you load the game. It's not hard, just cut and paste. So let's move on.

    7. Right-click on your desktop and select "New-->Text Document".
    8. When that opens up you want to copy 3ric's code from from verbatim into the text document.

    copy universe\OSFL\frfoot.fni universe\
    copy universe\OSFL\frfoot.fcy universe\
    copy universe\OSFL\frfoot.fgr universe\
    copy universe\OSFL\*.bmp pictures\
    start frfoot2007.exe
    9. Click the "Save as" for this file and name it "OSFL.bat" (you may need to change the "Save as type" to "Any file" and leave encoding as default. Then you want to copy this file into your directory that frfoot.exe file is (your FOF2007 home directory)
    10. Repeat steps 7-9 but exchange OSFL with NFL and use the following 3ric *.bat code.

    copy universe\NFL\frfoot.fni universe\
    copy universe\NFL\frfoot.fcy universe\
    copy universe\NFL\frfoot.fgr universe\
    copy universe\NFL\*.bmp pictures\
    start frfoot2007.exe
    11. Right click the OSFL.bat file, highlight send to, and send it to the desktop to create a desktop shortcut. Do the same with the NFL.bat file.

Now, when you run the "OSFL.bat" file, it copies all the files associate with the OSFL into FOF2007 and starts the game. You are now in MP heaven. And when you run the "NFL.bat" file, it copies all the files associated with the NFL into your FOF2007 and starts the game. Now you are in Single Player heaven. All you have to do is double click the icon created on your desktop to transfer back and forth between the files.

It sounds tough but it's really simple and you will be able to play both single-player and multi-player games.

I'll make this alot more easier, I'll just zip up my universe folder that includes most of the logos for the OSFL, frfoot files and batch file and also includes NFL logos, NFL frfoot files and batch file.

All you have to do is unzip this and overwrite the universe folder. Then put the NFL.bat and OSFL.bat into the same directory as FrFoot2007.exe.

            Here is the file.

Once again, extract these into your Universe folder and overwrite it. Then put the .bat files into the FOF2007 root folder.

Doesn't this way work as also? It's pretty simple for me. I've messed around with my fictional SP and a NFL SP league. And while I have yet to really get into to either one, this method seemed to work. I could be forgetting something and not go to a point yet where I could mess something up. That's why I was wondering.

---Make copies of your OSFL league files, make a folder and when you want to go back to SP, pull them out of the universe folder and start up a SP. When your ready to switch back to the OSFL files, take the SP files out of the universe folder and replace them with the OSFL ones. I have copies of each file too. I just have new folders on my desktop created for each league. ----

I'm pretty sure that's the way to do it. I'm sure a vet could chime in and add more insight or correct me if im wrong.

You can do it any way you like. It's just alot easier to click a icon and it does everything for you.

Thanks Hungry, that works like a charm, one click I'm in the OSFL, one click I'm in the NFL league. AWESOME!

Yeah, the other way seems best and I'll try it when I get home.

I was just making sure the way I was doing it, would work as well.

So, what can I do? I didn't save my old universe files in another folder, so all I have is the OSFL universe...?

Correct, you prob only have the OSFL city/nickname/color files if you overwrote your previous files. So all you do with this is extract the zip file.. move the Universe folder that was included in the zip file to your FOF2007 folder and overwrite, then take the .bat files in the OSFL and NFL folder and put them in the FOF2007 folder. Run the bat files and you are set for OSFL and NFL.

Okay, here's what I've done so far... I moved all OSFL files into a seperate folder and threw it on my desktop...

I had overwritten the files I thought for the NFL, but when I go to new game the players are all still there. I downloaded an updated player file and put that on my desktop, so I can load that when starting a new game... I even get the Chicago Bruins instead of Chicago Reapers, since I moved the OSFL stuff out of the universe.

What else do I need to do, and where do I put the NFL Glossy Logo's that I downloaded? Once I have the NFL Universe folder set I can just follow th einstructions from here, I just need help getting that organized.
