So we decided to come out swinging with the starters this preseason, and aside from some experimentation with our gameplan and defenders at different positions to gain experience, tried to win this one. So it was pretty discouraging when Las Vegas was posting a two-score lead on us at the end of the fourth.

But then Patrick Whalen decided to turn it on. The Utah backup, who struggled mightily when he first went in, came on fire with about two minutes left to go and didn't let up. The New Rico mounted a highly improbable comeback - directing a touchdown drive with 1:15 left to go, watching the Bees recover the ensuing onside, and then getting the troops in position for a Troy Parrish field goal. All of a sudden this preseason game's headed to overtime!

LVS started with the ball, but after going three-and-out, Whalen went back to work, at the helm of a 10-play, 51 yard FG drive for the winner. Brought some excitement to a meaningless preseason game, and what a comeback from the 3rd-stringer! The extra playing time was nice, too. gg Rip. I wish every preseason game would end in OT.

Completely not sure why we ran the ball so much. 56 run, 29 pass wasn't quite the design, but I guess it happens. The good news is that rookie Nate Washington was fairly spectacular at times, gaining 104 yards on 18 carries.

          Max Montano is a freak.

Nice to see us come out swinging even if it's only preseason

Concerned a little about Earnest Giang, though. Maybe that -10/-10 signals the end has already come...he had a pretty mediocre day today.

My stinkin' scout says, "If you move T James Vaughan to G, he'll probably increase in ratings."

He probably meant to say "He'll drop in ratings."

That sorta stinks. Vaughan was a mildly promising backup tackle and I figured a ratings bump would push him to extremely solid backup guard. A ratings drop in the RB and PB bars puts him on the bubble.

This game hates me. 6 of 8 on the road first half of regular season. Please. Also a nice 13 year playoff drought , despite 2 10-6 and 2 9-7 finishes. Hell Anchorage won the damn thing going 9-7.

There I am ready for season

Turnovers are the key to victory. Ask Nemesis. :)

But that was what MY team did.

Fumble, fumble, Int, punt, Int, punt, punt...that's a brutal way to start a game...that's why I can't believe we won the game.

My team turned over the ball 7 times in that game.

It's frustrating, I know. The preseason will only allow 46 active, unlike real world NFL football where the rosters are expanded.
