    GG Port City.

    Nobody got hurt.

It was nice to get a couple of picks, but tossing 3 of my own wasn't fun.

Glad to see the front 4 was able to get 5 sacks as well as keeping your ground game to 64 yards.

I was surprised I held Marty to 65 yards, but Kelly got over 100.

The 4-3 defense is new for the Gales this year, and I've been pleasantly surprised with how they've played.

No serious injuries, and another solid game from the starters. Last game was all montano, this game was the defense playing well. 3 picks from the secondary, and DE McElroy shows why we took him in the 1st round last year.

My prized FS prospect Lance Morris hyper-extends his knee on a kickoff...although I can't decide if that is a good or bad thing. I love preseason injuries that let me keep more players. My depth at S is tremendous, and I wanted to start Foster another season at FS anyway.

On the other hand, would much rather the injury happen to a more develompental prospect like Hines, than an incipient starter such as Morris.

        The Game

Pretty awesome. Patrick Whalen, 4th quarter hero of Preseason 1, quarterbacks the entire length of today's game and leads a blowout victory against St. Paul's backups. Solid day from Whalen and today's pair of starting receivers - Winston Reynolds and Chester Haddix, both recent later-round draft pick investments.

Haddix has returned one kick so far this year, which is too bad. He needs this preseason to showcase his KR skills, the primary way for him to earn a roster spot. We'll have to play less defense next game.

A nice bit of dazzle in Q4 once again. Reynolds, our 2023 5th rounder, had a 23-yard catch-and-run TD to put the game mostly out of reach, and last year's 3rd rounder and draft headliner J.B. Bynaker shows why Morris won't be missed terribly at safety by picking off a Bryan Maston pass on the following drive, and returning it 75 yards for the score.

Not such a good day on the ground. The good news is that our 2.11 this draft, Nate Washington, is getting fed carries without fumbles - yet.

        P3 Preview

Technically it's P week 4, but it'll be our third game. We'll be taking on ter13dan's Pearl Harbor group this week, and Whalen will take a back seat so that 2nd-stringer Roderick Sikkenga can get a full game in before the rust logic comes on.

Hard to say what the receiver derby brings this week. There are a number of guys we want to get playing time to - Mansker, Woodruff, and Vandersommen. At the same time, Haddix and Reynolds are promising, young, developing players and we want to continue rolling with them as the starting two.

On defense, we're pretty short in numbers aside from safety. We'll really be needing Brant Henson to start climbing in his ratings some though. y u no gain experience, man. What's up with that.

RB Nate Washington and C Mo Fujimoto will probably be held out as precautions for their minor injuries, meaning a big dosage of Green/Woods at RB, and who knows whom at center.

Well that was disappointing to say the very least.

J.B. Trotter must've known I was thinking about demoting him again because he ripped of a 76 yard TD and put up over 170 yards rushing on less than 20 carries.

McBriar again looked OK in a short amount of action. Lots of incompletions to Donaghy and Lovejoy, but my PR Toby McCarthy, who is not much of a receiver, raked in 8 catches. The front four lived up to the hype a little and notched three sacks (Pimentel, Hassett and Ackerman.) and a blocked pass by Jerome Howe. Secondary seems a little porous, which is probably partially due to cohesion issues.

LA - I see what you did thar: Bennie "Ben E" Lewis.

I'm pretty enthused by the team so far, even in two losses. Austin is 30/36 for 315 yards, 3 TDs, 107+ rating - the 3 INTs aren't good, hopefully that part is a fluke.

Hanks is looking decent in the backfield, rookie Johnnie Dickerson has caught 14 of 17 catches thrown his way...

Defense is looking pretty solid, though a little thin. I think special teams is hurting us right now. Our average starting position is mediocre (23-24 yd line), opponents have been starting around their 38. Ouch. If we can turn that around, we'll be just fine for the season.

Games 1 & 2 are for the starters; now it's backups and rookies. Only one minor injury, so it's been a very successful preseason so far.

Apparently you shouldn't throw near Laflamme. Three interceptions in two games. Niiiiice.
