  • 2026 Week One Pregame Discussion

The Bombers travel to Kalispel to get their first look at Bollywood. I was getting ready to whine about my injuries, then saw the Repetitive Concussion Syndrome hit on the Stags' best OL (O-100). We are definitely banged up to start the season, but nothing that can't be shaken off soon enough. Hopefully we have enough steam to power through this one, then have three at home.

I have a scouting report on Bollywood:

Loves singing and dancing, quick with his feet, throws a nice, tight spiral. One scout called him "The Joe Namath of Rajasthan."

"Also known to pop out from behind alternating sides of his offense linemen singing taunting love songs to his opponents."

We're eager to start another campaign. 2026 has a lot of mystery in it; with Giang and Foley declining, our attack is in full transition. Our idea of adding a weapon was getting a 3rd TE, so expect some resurgence of the Goalline formation into the Utah offense (seriously).

Los Alamos has a bright young, unmasking up QB, but he has 0 sense rush, which has our WLBs hungry as ever. 2025 was a bad step down for the defense; it has actually been declining in recent years in production even as its talent has improved. The pass rush was okay and the pass defense verging on terrible. Redemption time.

Fun fact: In the past four seasons, Utah ranked 17th, 8th, 19th, and 8th in the league in passing production. The last time the team exceeded the 4000 yard mark was 2018, the year before Randy Boone took over the starting position. So there are some definite goals to open up the passing game this year, if we can.

On the other hand, the team has ranked 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, and 2nd in running production, and 1st, 3rd, 9th [I'll never forgive you, Bryce Forbes], and 1st in QB Rating. I love a solid ground game, and if we can keep that up, maybe we'll be hovering around the 450-attempts mark again.

In Los Alamos we are lighting candles hoping for no injuries in our first of two yearly thrashings we receive from Utah.

We have some really tough choices to make on cut day. I am currently sitting with my roster at 55 and just agonizing over who will be the last 2 to go.

Locked and loaded for the opener. Had to do some creative maneuvering to get around our nicks & bruises this week, hopefully the guys can heal up quick. We've won our last 6 openers, I like that trend.
