  • 6 Linebackers

Two of my linebackers are out for 1 and 2 weeks and it wont let me just suit of 5 linebackers is there any options here without releasing a player that will allow me to suit up only 5.

No. You need 6 active linebackers. You can IR one and sign a FA, or release someone

Switch to a 4-3 for one week? :) I think you need five for that, though, but maybe it's four.

Now that is VERY creative thinking. Would not have ever occurred to me. Nice call, Foos!

5 linebackers total. At least 2 OLB and at least 1 ILB.

I've done the switching schemes before, a few people have warned me off it because they think the game puts some sort of punishment in and makes your defense less effective.

I'll say that the last time I tried it I had a team who could play both schemes well. LBs and DEs were very good. We gave up over 400 yards and lots of penalties.

Personally I never switch mid season now. I would just deactivate my 3rd RB or FB depending on their skills

I actually did that once back in my early years with the 3-4. I switched to 4-3 for a couple games due to my poor LB depth. :)

I don't think the game punishes you for doing it, per se, but just that you might not have players particularly suited for the system.

Yep, I've done it, didn't see any ill effects. Just keep an eye on the position experience, that would be where the penalties would kick in.
