  • Week 10 Pregame/Game Discussion

A year ago, Utah was reeling and stumbling their way towards trying to clinch a playoff berth. Until they met Phoenix. And blasted them back to the fiery chasms from whence they came, in back-to-back weeks, including the WC showdown.

This year is a different story. Phoenix had a griphold on the division lead until their bye week, and their latest stumble against a sweet-lookin' MTC team isn't fooling anybody. Oglethorpe is having the year of his life and has a full arsenal. Utah's still without its top corner, Mitchell Prescott.

Great defense on the PHO side as well. The Riders are favored by 2 points. This'll be a good one, and it's for the division.

note of interest: Due to the Sidharta injury, at this point, Earnest Giang is the team's second-leading receiver (in yards; 3rd in catches) with 23-16-259, and 11.26 ypt. Now if he could just remember how he used to not fumble the ball all the time...

Big game against divisional rival North Liberty. They're only one game behind after our ugly loss to Columbus.

Just a game with no turnovers, please? IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

Awesome first quarter Nutah, congrats for the win :)

Another question fellas!! In Nickel package who are the most importants players in the pass rush and stopping the run??

Thanks like ever!! I´ll try to rebound winning some games and killing my draft position!

In the Nickel you still have 4 rushers in both the 34 and the 43. So your 4 DL, and especially the two ends (or in the 34, the 3 DL and the WLB). The only difference is you take away a run-stopping LB and replace him with an extra cornerback.

In the dime you only have 3 DL.

gg strick. Wow, we got away with one. It's amazing how inept my team is sometimes. This one was a straight up barn burner. Frodo and Randy Boone got into a "let's see who can throw the ball more times today" contest.

It wasn't pretty, and it wasn't our style. Earnest Giang had 8 carries! Randy Boone with 51 attempts. Frodo with 59.

Somehow, we were able to take this game to overtime in the closing seconds, and after some OT ineptitude from both offenses, Boone hit Foley again deep and we secured the winning FG. I guess that somewhat atones his 3-pick day, but that is just unacceptable!

Spotlights: Pretty good day for some of the young guys in the secondary. Jared Cuevas played on the outside in the Nickel and Dime sets, with Easton shifting inside to the slot, and came up with two key breakups and an interception. Scottie Finley registered 1 defense, no passes allowed in 25 plays. Free safety Wally Burgess doesn't even show up on the stat sheet. In 53 pass plays. Wally Island!

Booooo: to you, Hunter Vandersommen. That's not how you carry the WR2 role in the Utah offense. Look for Zach Coughlin to get dusted off against Los Alamos this week.

Game MVP went to my kicker for the second time in three weeks (oddly the game he goes 6/6 on FGs is the one he didn't win it), but it just as easily could have gone to the refs whose dreaded "yellow hanky defense" seemed to shut down Yuma at every turn.

Zebra assisted or not the win let us keep pace with Boston, who we face off against next week in what could be the deciding game for the NC East.

Huge game against our biggest current divisional rival, North Liberty, and Dakota comes out on top 31-24.

Our offense struggled with consistency but they did something I don't know if they've done all year: not turn the ball over.

McBriar was harried all day by the North Liberty pass rush and Duckworth was average, but they made enough plays here and there, doing enough to win.

A.J. Hassett had another big day and is on quite a tear despite having no sacks in the game. He tallied four knockdowns, a hurry, and a blocked pass.

We're sitting pretty at 8-1 and are in good position to compete for a bye, a luxury Dakota hasn't had in many playoff years.

Our defense is ranked 10th and is tied for second in turnovers, which has compensated for our offense which has turned the ball over a league leading 25 times.

                  Wow!!

Huge turn-around in this week versus another divisional rival and yes we now are 3-0, rest of the league 0-6

Awesome our 1-2 RB do. Ey rookie!! You dont be enough valued by the stats but you have something really special inside. Both comined 189 Yards and 9 rushes for more than 10 Yards. Cleghorn have some fuel in the tank till the end of the season at least and Giles still show me week after week that his elusiveness and breakaway speed is the thing for I picked him in the 4th round. Also both are really good out of the backfield and combined 8 catches 56 yards

I think that the things I learned in this week with my personal teachers turn one part of my poor deffense and after allowing the 31st avg/game more than 150 rushing yards in this match Joseph Jenkins was stopped in 60 yards.

Other thing is the pass offense, despite Omar ONeill seems like the player for which I pay 1st and 3rd rounders collecting 0.5 Sacks, 1 Block, 3 Hurries and 4 Knocks. We allowed only the 55% of completions but 276 Yards and 2 Touchdowns. And now are ranked in the last position in the league at Interceptions stats with only 3 in 9 games... Our DBs cant caught nothing man...

Is this a miracle single-game or the beginning of a good end of the season?? See what happens on Friday!!

Chicago put a hurting on us. I don't mean we lost, because we didn't, but a bunch of guys got injured. Fun times. Time to step up rookies.

This season has been a struggle.

We need a QB stat as Fitzgerald has proved that last season was a fluke.
