All the talk going in was about the North Liberty defense. Reaper D rose to the occaision for the upset win. Should be our first of three, but hey for one week we can say First Place!

DE Ben Ellard 2 sacks, 7 tackles, 1 Forced Fumble.

What was the key of the game? Look at the Reaper D step up at the end of the first half.. 1st and goal at the 2 for North Liberty and they get one yard only.

North Liberty: I formation, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 and weak-side man, otherwise cover-7 zone coverage, keying aggressively on the pass.
1-2-CHI02 (2Q: 01:25) Rondell Whitehead ran inside the left guard for 0 yards. Tackled by S Doug Kneiling. The defense looked very familiar with that play.
North Liberty: Single-Back formation, strength is right. The defense is in a 43 and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, keying aggressively on the pass.
2-2-CHI02 (2Q: 01:09) Rondell Whitehead ran inside the left guard for 1 yard. Tackled by DT Allen Harding, assisted by OLB Jamal Aikens.
North Liberty: Strong formation, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 and 2-deep man-to-man coverage, keying aggressively on the run. Aikens is blitzing.
3-1-CHI01 (2Q: 00:52) Britt Toews ran inside the left guard for 0 yards. Tackled by DT Benjamin Carlson, assisted by S Doug Kneiling.
(2Q: 00:52) North Liberty called a time out.
4-1-CHI01 (2Q: 00:41) Ricardo Phillips attempted a 18 yard field goal and succeeded. Chicago 10, North Liberty 6

That stand was amazing... but dude...

Your D isn't that impressive. 6 points is the second most I've scored in 5 games now I believe. My offense is horrific, led by a QB with a rating of 10.

Your D played a great game and that drive was the key to the game, but the key was my defense being unable to touch your QB. He was assinine.

Admirals win! My O put up over 400 yards, and my D held Brooklyn to less than 250...but I only won by 3.

        I'll take it!!!

The Port City Steam opens the season with a 26-7 win over Punxsutawney. Had to settle for 4 FGs in this one and penalties were a big problem. I need to tweak my gameplan as we're not running enough. I really miss my backup running back. I see now he should be the starter as my stud rookie is not ready to carry the load. GG Punxsutawaney.

Big upset win for the Aces over Vegas..

Scovill did enough to keep our d off the field and keep em fresh enough for the second half and our special teams play was incredible, pinning Vegas inside their 7 4 times.

Without that, we get beat pretty handily I think. Allen was efficient, but may be the first QB to post a 100 rating on 24 attempts and have less than 100 yards.

Play of the game was the pick by rookie SS Holmes late on our end of the field with Vegas driving to preserve a 14-6 lead.

Lake County wins 16-12... No idea how, Ohio Valley at one point, was averaging 11 yards a carry in the first half. He didn't run the ball at all in the 2nd half.

My offense is still horrible, 10 points came off turnovers, an INT in his territory and a fumble return for a TD, but a win is a win, and I'll take it.

Questionable play calling by my OC when compared to my game plan...

Well, I predicted a 9-3 win for Phoenix and we win 10-3 to go up unbeaten in the Division. Now, that's probably going to be the only time I can say that, but it is gratifying to win the home opener.

                    Good game Cotton.

ILB Nick O'Connor gets game MVP with two interceptions and as far as I can tell, zero tackles, zero assists, zero sacks. Now how does that happen?

Interesting game. Our offense only put the ball in the end zone once, yet we coasted to a 32-6 win. The Rhode Island Express got off to a pretty solid start in that FL J.R. Sierra leads the league in receiving yards after one week. Sierra also took a punt to da hizouse. Also props have to go out to K Chuck Holden, who hit six FGs on the day. We need to bit of work on our red zone offense. Other than that, I'm pleased with Week One.

Just brutal. My starting back averaged 11 yards a carry in the first half on 11 carries, and he runs the ball twice in the second half??

Also, I'm still trying to figure out why my defense "aggressively expected" the pass 7 times in a row when you were trying to run out the clock with under 3 minutes left.

Maybe he was scared that Courtney Henson was going to tackle him too... considering he was in on every other play. :D

My team, pretty much, ran the exact gameplan that I had in mind. I think it's a lot easier when you're in the lead. I think (and maybe the FOF Vets out there can tell us) that the situational settings for the score conditions pretty much override the bulk of your gameplan.

Anyway, good game, Diesel. It was refreshing to simply make your team cry instead of you.

One important thing to remember regarding gameplans is this: if you set your gameplan to run the ball 50% of the time on 2nd and 1, that doesn't mean that you will run 50% of the time on 2nd and 1. It means that there is a 50% chance every time it is 2nd and 1 that you will run. So, if sample sizes are small (which they all are in a given football game), you will see variance. Meaning, in the case of 50% run on 2nd and 1, if that situation comes up, say, four times in a game, there's a 12.5% chance that you'll do the same thing on every single 2nd and 1.

I'm still trying to figure out where my kicker came from..he boomed a 54 yarder to basically put the game away. I was shocked, 54yds!?

My 4 turnovers did not help ---- you have a very very solid team and mine is pretty weak
