Forgive me...for being a newbie here, but this isnt listed in the rules section

Could someone explain this a little more?
Does this apply to RFAs too? or Renegotiations?

          UFA's only.

We used to do 3+ years only on UFA contracts until after the end of FA1.12 and every SIM I would get complaints via PM about people wanting to sign "roster fodder" type players to deals less than 3 years in length during the early stages of FA. This is an effort to give teams that option, while limiting the game playing of signing star players to huge 1 yr deals.

            Very Interesting
I really like the thinking behind this rule
It gives the League the best of both worlds in Free Agency

              Two issues arise from this:

              1) Human owners forget and offer "illegal" contracts. Those get voided without penalty
              2) AI run teams (we have 3 at the moment): We can't control what they offer, so they will make offers that go against this rule. We let those stand, since the AI run teams are at such a disadvantage they can use all the help they can get.

                Yeah, only to UFAs.

Everybody we made a contract offer to signed! Don't remember the last time it's been that smooth, and we've actually taken care of almost all of our renegotiation needs after FA1-1, rather than waiting until the playoffs.
