  • Anyone else going to play SP for the first time in forever?

I just did my new football game "roster purge" with the Jets (SEEYA SANCHEZ!) and got started. First exhibition sim: Matthew Stafford, inguinal hernia. (he was playing against us too. GO JETS!)

Bringing back all the warm memories of my VERY long SP experience. I played decades game by game as the Jets until I got into MP, learned the game and could easily dominate the AI.

I hope the SP can stay new for me for a while and the least bit challenging until we know all the new wrinkles. Plus we can enjoy the MP for a while until Nutah and the other super elites become Gods again. :)

What's SP? I learn through MP, which explains a lot.

Juuuust kidding. Gonna play the shit out of SP.

      Already running an SP career.

Just won the Super Bowl in New England, with an aging Tom Brady at the helm, it was his 16th season, and the team had 3 1,000 yard receivers, well 2 receivers and TE Gronkowski.

WR Weaver is 63/63 in his 2nd year and WR Dobson is 57/57 in his 3rd year, while Gronk is 86/86 in his 6th year.

The team has made the playoffs all three years, but lost in the 2nd game in the first 2 seasons.

The WR corp is still just like NE is now, Dobson, Boyce 54/54, and Thompkins 47/47. The Weaver kid was drafted, and Dexter McCluster 48/48 signed in FA this year.

Green Bay has been the most dominate team so far though, they won the first SB, lost in the 2nd, and just missed the 3rd, losing to the Eagles, who we just beat to win the SB.

I'd imagine Tom Brady will retire, and the rebuilding process will begin for this team.

For anyone on the fence, this FOF is light years ahead of FOF 2007. It's gonna take a long time to figure it out, too. It looks like there are many winning formulas possible, and that is real nice to see. I'm running a Texans style offense with my fictional Bengals and our QB is a bit of a scrambler. We're averaging 225.8 yards a game on the ground through 4 weeks.

The improvements in the A.I. are tremendous, IMO.

Just got this in my inbox in week 10 of my first season:

Analysts are calling out Bernard Tapia of the New York Gladiators for his lackluster performance this week against Washington.

They suspect troubles down the road with Tapia. He may never become a player mentor. He may end up negatively affecting team chemistry. And, if he becomes unhappy with playing time, he will be less likely to work with the Gladiators in the future.

The player development is crazy! I don't know what to make of all the player movement so far in its new times (after PRE2 and TC.) Geno Smith dropped bigtime, but I don't even know if that means I should drop him! I don't know if the cut test means anything anymore or it just means something different. I couldn't traded an average CB and McElroy for Jake Locker but I don't know that I even want to do that. The trade AI doesn't fall for any typical football video game garbage now, methinks. The Redskins told me to GTFO when I came looking for RG3 and no one wants my high contract players. Teams won't trade you their starting QB if they don't have another good QB.

I simmed one season out just to see what happens and NE lost to Green Bay in the Super Bowl. I cut half of the Jets roster and replaced them with computer generated undrafted scrubs. In my simmed season they went 10-6 but so far I'm 3-4 with a VERY erratic Greg McElroy starting over Geno Smith. (Funnily enough - I think he had a decent season in the sim season.) Split the series with the Patriots but Gronk went nuts in both games with 10+ catches and 100+ yards. (In the second game I had to play a backup CB at S because Ed Reed got hurt.) TEs actually get used by the AI now.

Stafford killed with an inguinal hernia in week one, Romo killed with an ACL injury in week two.

If player development now means to have to hold onto players for a few years to see what happens that's AWESOME. Since players will go up and down throughout their careers it makes for some interesting roster choices. I just hope it's not so random we all decide it sucks.

I have no intention of this. It'll be good to watch a new generation of FOF experts rocking it out

I hope so too. This was the big problem with BBCF, in my opinion. The numbers just bounced around meaninglessly.

In FOF2k7, things like ratings changes and cut tests meant something. I don't know how I feel about these things *happening*, but meaning nothing. Hopefully that is not the case.
