Second straight big divisional rival game for Dakota. A win this week really puts us in the driver's seat for a division championship, although quite a few times the team has crashed the car when in the driver's seat. *COUGH* PLEASANT, COLUMBO, MCBRIAR. *COUGH*
That one was really brutal. I thought my goose was cooked when Douglas threw that late interception, but then Hutchins picked Sage and returned it 97 yards to seal the deal.
Dakota was down 20-3 early and things were looking grim, but the opening kickoff of the second half was returned for a touchdown by Rowland closing the game to 20-16. By the end of the third quarter, we had taken the lead 26-20.
Rowland took another to the house on an 83 yard TD reception, but St. Paul rallied to close the gap to 33-30. Douglas threw an interception with under three minutes left in Dakota territory and it looked like it was going to be another late game failure for the Totems like in years past. Then Hutchins saved us with the huge pick six. Final score: 40-30.
So the streak ends at two. Guess we should feel fortunate we won those two. At least it wasn't a blowout. We hung tough. Missed a FG late and couldn't put together a drive at the end.
