hahahaha i was trying to get that whole team addicted (begrudgingly) he did know how to massage that cap, i think the greatest trick the devil (err utah) ever pulled was making the world think he didnt exist.

and by that i mean everyone thought he was this nice guy, but he was extremely shrewd. refused to make trades with me, even engineered a trade to "fix" a misunderstanding that boston and i had that benefited utah in the end, almost never signed most of his rookies to save cap space, i could go on but he did it all with a smile and a pat on the back.

Loved the guy and miss him. He was always a class act in the NCFA and OSFL. He helped me every draft (thanks for Sage buddy) and always answered my questions via PM. I would have quit this game long ago without him.

He played within the rules and did nothing no one else could have done. He's a thousand times a better person than the last dominant OSFL coach.

The computer f'ed up the cap on this team and with all the rollbacks I have no clue how to fix anything. So after trading all my picks because I have no cap room I now lose my 3rd? This is dumb.
Same thing happened to me when I took over a team in another league.

AI sure does a number on a team with the cap.

Word. THE MAN IS A SAINT. Also, I didn't regret any trade I ever made with him, except for Britt Peters for like a 3rd and a 4th. I doubt that one hindered me much anyway. Besides, he ended up being my receivers group leader for like a decade. For a while it seemed like I made a trade with Utah almost every year. If anything he gave ME a sweetheart deal when I traded up for Malcolm Rowland. Good God.... AM I EVIL? I'd say he's about the easiest and fairest person I ever made trades with in the league.

The problem was people trading him 1st round picks when they're probably going to have a high pick the next year. I traded 2-3 1sts to Nutah and they ended up being bottom of the round picks. The years I had a weak team? I didn't trade future 1sts. Can't blame Nutah for others' bad decisions.

Nutah was never anything but open and fair, and he shared a great wealth of knowledge with the other players in the league, me included. I became much better at FOF for having known and spoke with him, especially during drafts.

              Don't make me blush

We did play balls to the wall with the financials and draft assets in Utah. Even the trades I 'lost' on tended to benefit us in various ways, since even losing value on a pick or dumping a player sheds the opportunity cost of using/keeping them -- which might have been worse.

Pulling all the cap strings I could was probably my favorite part of the game...but I probably wouldn't have the stomach to play with real fire. You guys are brave. Careful with those vet extensions, boys — those grandfathered 2k7 contracts won't be around forever. P.S. We all love you, Shark!

The AI cap management in the previous version of the game was non-existent. The AI would continually resign players who still had multiple years left on their contracts. This would cause the bonus money (what you must pay even if you cut a player) to increase each remaining year. As part of overall roster building this strategy makes no sense.

And, thankfully, that seems to have been fixed in FOF7.

Also, Nutah sucks. Damn hippie love fest.

And I think my Rowland pick ended up packaged in the deal to get an even better receiver the next year. :)

And man, I paid a huge amount to a low endurance high PRT pass rusher in FOFL who normally would have had his "cheap" RFA deal, but didn't get that luxury in FOF7. He had something like 5.8% pass rush this season. OUCH. Meanwhile, an undrafted FA DE I had at RDE and some LDE either led or was second in sacks in the league with a respectable pass rush %.
